I called up Hoover Wheel Alignment and they said that they will need my car for half a day to get my alignment settings done. I requested if I could stay until they finish, but they said that I'd have to leave it with them. Should I trust my car with them? I have always (2 times) waited for my alignment to get finished from them. It took about 1-2 hours max for them to finish on my old GC6. Can you autocrossers/wheel aligners help me out? :???:

By the way, I have Tein HA 16-way adjustables with adjustable camber plates.
My setting as of current (by seller) has a 1 degree toe-out for the front and 1 degree toe-in for the rear. I want my alignment to be more tire-friendly.

I have to get an alignment done sometime soon as well. Fortunately for me I don't have to trust the help so much, I can drop my rev limiter down to 3000 or something to keep the mechanics from trying to have fun with it :D

    That's more like it!

Fong, you don't want to have to wait a day for an alignment. I know they just want to play with your car. Find a shop where you can wait for your alignment to be finished.

Thanks, Garret. I forgot that I have a Vishnu reflashed ECU that allows switching from modified mode to valet mode. I'll have to do that before I take it in. :D
Fue, I don't know of many places that will work on a car with a modified suspension. They are really afraid to break something unknown to them. So, that's why I'm sticking with Hoover Wheel and Alignment.

I will check. I have a friend that knows a shop owner that does alignment up in Ham lake (around the crosstown and 65 area). I will check to see what he charges and get a phone number. I was thinking about taking my car there to get it done.

Ok, sorry for the delay. I can't promise anything being as I haven't talked to them directly yet. I was planning on calling tomorrow to see what is up.

Thanks to new UTEC firmware, I can too. Sweet. Or I could bump it up to 8000 and go BOOM. Ha.

    Sure, thanks!

Joel, you might get those mechanics into trouble... ;) A free brand new engine sounds good, but I don't know about the investigating that'll go on.

    Fong,

Sorry I should have read your post sooner, if you really want a very good alignment for racing and balance. Remember that friend I told you about that has a shop that does F1 race cars, he can cater the alignment to what you need and balance the car as well to what ever course you want to run on, along with setting up your suspension correctly.

It going to be a little bit more, but you will be very happy especially with your Tein's. Let me know.

I have used Hoover before, they do a pretty good job.

Investigate what?? If I blow up my engine it's on me, there's no way in hell I'd get a free new one out of the deal.

Joel, I meant that if you were to give the car to the guys doing an alignment for you and you set the UTEC to 8000, whoever is taking your car for a spin around the block with your car will blow the motor up, and have to pay for it. But if insurance finds out that your car is modified to detonate when abused by the alignment guys, you might be paying for the motor yourself. But! Your suggestion is taken. Thanks! :p

Well, I have an appointment with:

    Hoover Wheel
    207 Lowry Ave N
    MINNEAPOLIS MN 55411-1621
    (612) 522-4489

The guy I spoke with wasn't so demanding, so I went with them instead of the one on E. Hennepin. I also called M&L Automotive, and they don't do wheel alignments for modified suspensions. Shucks!

bah, insurance doesnt know how to read a fuel map! just tell them that the -1000 on the map is supposed to be there.

anyway i know someone that can do alingment, i could ask him if he is interested in doing custom suspensions. i am prolly gonna have him do my alingment soon, i will see what he charges.

:p Serious. Call them. They're not expensive and they work with your modified suspension. :)

IIRC, they just adjusted my fronts for $~40. Add the rears and it would be $~80. Fortunately, they inspected my rears for abnormal settings free (not adjusted). The other Hoover wheel (on Broadway) charges whether they change the alignment or not. Call them first.
