I was wondering if you can swap a 94-96 JDM WRX Motor into a 1999 2.5 rs?

Is it legal to swap a older car into a newer car?

    thanks,
    Sam

Technically speaking, I think you're not suppose to. In CA they enforce that so you have to put in the SAME or NEWER into the car. It may apply for MN, but just that they don't enforce it.

    But I'm not sure..... I have a '91 motor in my '99.

In MN, no, anywhere that i've heard of, no. Does any authority in MN care? One guy behind a desk in a basement somewhere. So go for it!!!!

Yep, it is a fedal law. Any time you replace a motor it needs to be newer or the same year as a chassis. I ran into a bunch of problems when I have a couple of my old street cars that I swapped motors in. But we also had emmisions at the time. Now with no inspections or emmisions, I would do it. So teachnically, no it is agaist the law. Who is going to check?? Nobody, so go for it.
