Its a big change when you change from a tiny 1.6l honda motor to a 2.0l+ Turbocharged AWd car. I use to own 2 Honda's..but the thing is they're the same car....haha 1st on is a 95 Del Sol(B16 factory), and 2nd one is a 93 Del Sol S(DX motor). Sigh, i was only about to pay my 2nd Bill on my 95 Del Sol then it got stolen. Damm..not kool at all. Its the VTec B16 model. already had some good stuff done to it. Especially lighting affects(int/ext/truck neon lights)....so that one lasted about 2 months(2004)...last year April, got another one, 93 Del Sol S...(weakest model)....hey but at least it came with Metellic Blue paint Job(stock is blue too) and it only cost me $1300 with about 140k from my Bro in law. Got some basic upgrades done(intake, muffler, etc..). until Oct. 2006 Sold it...and got my WRX in Dec 2006....auhh there's nothing like Raw Subaru Power...I'll never go back to Honda's again(except maybe a Van maybe..later in the future..haha).....oh especially my 2n car was a 94 Accord LX sedan auto. Dont really consider that car. Sold to my uncle. welp thats my story how I got to Subaru's......

Whats your story? How you get to Subaru?.............

The crx is in the garage waiting for another day to shine.

I love my wrx, but in my heart, the crx is king.

I think that, the S2000, and the Type R are probably the only hondas that'll make people feel that way.

Maybe by the time I go stage 2 I'll feel differently, but I don't think so.

Rally Racing always seemed more fun and interesting than NASCAR, especially after I starting seeing videos of those Group B cars hitting bystanders in those 1970/80's European races.

I figured a car that's designed to go as fast as possible in any type of weather condition would be a perfect car for Minnesota. 4-doors are nice too.

'inherited' my loyale from my dad in highschool. it was a FWD AT POS...but I beat the living crap out of it, and it was awesome. I could easily just flick the steering wheel and get it sideways (front handbrake too...). anyway, I hated the drivetrain, but realized it was virtually indestructible. so I bought an '85 D/R 4WD 5MT one. and it was awesome, then it rusted out, so I parted it out. had a couple lifted '88s. then put the leftover parts from my '85, along with a trans I paid out the ass for, and the motor from my mom's former DD, a '92 legacy sedan. and now I've got the FrankenWagon......

stay tuned for sweet azz suspension and belt-driven forced induction ;)

Im a honda geek, but i never switched to subarus, i like to think i added subarus.
Im just in to deep with honda knowledge and love, i cant give that up. but hey its time for me to add something else to learn about and have fun with.

idk, i can jump in my integra, beat the crap out of it, then jump in my dads 350z beat the crap out of it, and still have a better time in my integra. maybe somethings wrong with me.

I'm the same way. I've wanted an STi but I wanted it as a main car with my Prelude as a 2nd car. Had to sell the Lude when I bought my STi though as my wife needed a new car also and the Prelude is 2 door and I had my 2nd kid.

I'll never give up Honda's though. My STi is faster and handles better but the Prelude was more fun to drive and looked 10X better too. I think the Prelude is everything the STi isn't and vice versa. It would have been a great combo.

P.S. Avoid the Honda vans. The Odessy is the worst Honda made in many years. It's not bad, but it doesn't live up to the rest of them.

My SHO died and I wanted something fun.

The SHO was fwd and marginal at best, GM stopped selling Camaros, and I was already paying for an Accord for the missus, so life conspired to get me into my Saabaru. I *so* wanted an Evo or STi...

for some reason I had a sense that I was going to have a kid in the near future so I had to sell my super clean drift car ae86. So I had to sell her and get a four door. I didn't want to deal with Mitsubishi and my wife already has a toyota corolla so I decided on a rex. Then I had my son last year! Wish I would have bought a wagon or a forester XT though no room for them huge strollers and a cooler. I was a big Honda geek also back in my teens. I just grew out of them. I think the only honda that I would want now is like a 92-93 GS-R.

well i started out in a nissan pathfinder, which rusted in half. my parents wanted me in a subaru. had to be AWD, safe and my parents love the subaru wagons (we have had alot fo them. they are the only 5spd my mom will drive cuase of teh hill holder.) got a 95 LX for a steal! and have been uber happy ever since.

since then i have gotten atleast 4 other people to go subaru and not look back! these cars are addicting, and easy to work on.

So then i got an STi so i wouldn't mod it!! cuz if i got a WRX i would have modded it!! but now the STi is running after just a few mods!! BTW welcome to the boards

started with a toyota camry, still have it, good gas saver
needed second car, so cousin sells me his 95 civic hatch dx...
drove it for a few months, and then...something bad happens
BOOM, engine blows on 35w (and no, i wasn't racing or beating on it, it already had 140k+ and ran like sh!t)
    so...bought a b16a (jdm baby, yeah!)
was a quick little bugger, but needed torque
went to rabbit, which he drives me around in his 06 rex
fell in love with that tq baby
now i'm with the 06 and got rid of the rice
    i still miss it tho

I don't know, I feel like torque is an overstated feature of the wrx (at least the 2.0). Maybe it's because I came from a 2000lb car, but I'm just not wildly impressed by the torque.

The peak torque is nice, but the beauty of torque is supposed to be the lowend grunt and not having to downshift every time you want to make a yellow light.

Talk to me when I'm stage 2. But for now, I'm very pleased with so much of this car, just not as much on the torque end.

yep, but you're talking about the 2.0. which, other than the EA-series motors, definitely has the worst torque curve of any subaru. the Ej18 didn't have the displacement, but no turbo to kill the bottom end.

I'm shooting for 150 awtq before 3000 rpms for my summer build for my wagon...

Started out with an 86 honda civic si, to a 92 honda civic dx with ls swap, then to a 99 honda civic si, back to a 93 honda civic cx, then to my 04 Sti.

Worst part of honda's for me was waking up in the morning wondering if my hatch had gotten stolen or broke in to. Still a Honda man at heart though, i've just been under the influence of mad torque and awd lately!!!;)

    F&F is a 95/96 GS-T. FWD. Anyway:

Solve your torque problems - upgrade to an 07. :D I love the low-end grunt this thing has. Okay, my path to Subarus:

1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 2-door 350 Rocket - Yellow --junked--
1992 Pontiac Grand Prix SE --sold--
1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera 3.3 3-speed auto - Fartpiped as a joke --sold--
----somewhere around here is where I started loving subarus BUGEYES come to the US and I fall in love-----
1992 Chevrolet Caprice 305 TBI - Dual exhaust, neons, air-jacker shocks in the rear and slammed front end --sold--
1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT - DUAL Fart-piped. Sounded sweet. haha --sold--
1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX AWD 2.0 Turbo 5-speed. Fun fun fun car. What really got me turned on to AWD. --sold--
1994 Chevrolet Caprice. Was free, but I gave it back after putting a buncha money into it. Still didn't put out any heat, and that's a bad thing in MN. Brakes were shot, too. AND it was slow. AND it had 180,000 miles on a one-off motor. 4.3L V8?!?! Jeez, what was GOOD about this thing?
1986 Pontiac Fiero GT 2.8 "High-Output" Heh, riiiiight. Died on the side of the road and was vandalized and rolled before I could get a trailer to bring it home. Insurance gave me 5900 bucks for it tho!

AND now is where I buy that wonderful black 2.5L torquey turbo beast from Mr. Scott Putnam. I still wanna hug that man every time I see him. I think next time I just might. Well, maybe if he weren't so tall. Anyway! I love my car, tons of plans for it. I'm not going back to anything BUT Subarus.

    My path:

1993 Chevy S-10 2wd, std cab. 2.8L V6 w/5 speed. At 17 I swapped for a 325hp 350ci V8. Awesome fun. Still have the truck, it's 'between motors' right now. Pretty much have everything I need to get it together, but just haven't had the motivation.

Got a 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora as a daily driver in about 2001. Loved this car, but all the parts are Cadillac, and man did it start falling apart after 100k. Sold it.

Got a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis after that. Lol. Awesome road trip car, but just not my style. Got a great deal on it though, couldn't pass it up. Ended up trading it in for the current...

2006 WRX TR. Bought it well after the 2007s hit the lot, and got a great price. Miss the luxury and V8 growl of the Aurora, but wouldn't trade the daily fun I have in this car for anything.
