Ok, on an impulse I went to Autozone and scored the last two cans of Duplicolor bronze they had in stock. My snowies have arrived and I'm thinking the bronze would be pretty pimpalicious on the stock 17s. Looking at them, it appears as thought I need only scuff up the exterior and tape off the rest as it is already oxidized bare Al and these will be snowies anyway.

These would be for an Urban Gray Metallic wagon. Summers are 04 STi BBSs in silver.

    Thoughts, comments, witticisms? Bring it!

i've painted a few sets of wheels - they come out best if you use primer, paint and clear

    Tis on like Donkey Kong

1.5 wheels painted. Contact high is powerful.

Painting in walk-out basement with huge cross ventilation and two large box fans and still feeling it...:yumyum::cool:

They are looking quite sexy. Pix to follow, natch.

Dang, I was going to post something to help you, you could've had all four wheels done in that time if you used note cards instead of tape:

And of the four sets of wheels I've painted, I've scuffed and painted and that's it, no problems after years of abuse to all of them.

buuuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. killing off those lesser brain cells - survival of the fittest.

you'll want to clear coat them or the first rock or two will cause chips. take your time between coats and have a drink or two.

Ha, that makes too much sense! My tires aren't on yet though. My only mistake was not staging all 4 simultaneously...then again, I only had the room to paint 2 at a time.

I'm scuffing, spraying with adhesion promoter and then painting. 3 light coats look pretty good so far. Not even halfway thru a can of paint. *Just* a bit cheaper than the p'coat I was contemplating....
