    Hello, everyone!
I got my '04 wrx last spring, and now the evil modding bug is creeping in on me. I've got a thousand bucks for Christmas burnin' a hole in my pocket, and want to get an AP. I know stage 2 is where the real power is, but how was it for you when you first went to stage 1? Was it woo hoo! or um, I guess that's better...? I don't think it will be too hard to talk me into it. Oh yeah, what is it about this car? This is the only car I've ever owned that seems to drive all the punks and rice boys(or is it kraut boys here in New Ulm?) nuts trying to race etc. It sure is fun though!

stage 1 will wet your apitite for a month or so, then youll want more, its a never ending cycle, usually you never end up "satisfied". With all the new protuners out there i would say go for it.

And the accessport is so easy to install, you don't even have to pay your baby brother to do it.

I haven't heard any regrets from anybody that went Cobb. What's also a plus is the OBDII cable that comes with the kit can be used to plug into your laptop when running a datalogger.

The Stage1 setup did have problems on the 04s. If you buy one used, the first thing you should do with it would be to download the newest maps. I can't see how anyone would still have the old maps on there, but it is a possibility.

Question. Lets say for example bikerboy (useing you since I know you have one) hooked his AP to my car and uploaded a map to my ECU, could he then diconnect that and the map would still be in my ECU, or do you need to have the AP attached for the maps to work?

No, the AP does not remain connected. Just plug it into port under the steering column, flash the map, and unplug.

But FYI, the AP has to be "married" to the ECU before you can load maps, and it can only be married to one ECU at a time, so in order to do that, he'd have to unmarry it from his car (and thus removing the maps from the ECU, ending up as stock) and remarry it to yours (also assuming you had the same year/model).

The best I know is you can't do it. APs are "married" to one vehicle. He might be able to do it if he unmarries his (which would return his ECU to stock) then married it to yours, but then he wouldn't be able to use it for HIS car.
