Targa Newfoundland Rally video

Great video of this years, 2008, event. Also some great shots of Andrew Comrie Picard in his new Evo 10 rally car. Can't wait to see him run it against the new STi in a rally.

If you're not familiar with this event, it is run in and around fishing villages on Newfoundland. And when I say in, I mean in. I'm talking narrow village roads and it is not uncommon for houses and fences to get hit by cars. One year a 944 missed a turn and dove head first into the bay, the in car of that was nuts.

Some of the unique features of Targa Newfoundland are: its run over 5 days and each day cars have target times for the day that they must meet, to equalize the field of vintage cars and all out race cars, each is assigned target times based on the kind of car they are and as the week progresses, target times get shorter and speeds get faster.

I believe they also have a touring class for more sane people.

Thanks for posting! I saw the car at 6:20 and met the driver in person a couple years ago in PA and he told me all about Targa. Cool!

 

Now that is street racing, its so street that its residential, right in front of grandma's house. I want to this.

That is a great video. It is really cool that the course goes through the villages. It looks like a ton of fun.
