I just spoke with Mark today and now that we have confirmation that we can use the land, both of these events are CONFIRMED. I will be updating this post with additional details as I get them.

The RallyX School will be held on Saturday, April 25th. The Tax Brake RallyX will be held on Sunday, April 26th. Both events will be held at the Cannon Falls location where the Treadin' Thin Ice RallyX was held. We do have an indoor location on the property to hold the school.

    Directions from HWY 52:
Take the Cannon Falls exit and head WEST on HWY 19 for 3.5 miles.
Turn LEFT on 30th AVE and go .5 miles. Turn LEFT on 325th St. and go
approximately .6 miles. The driveway to the event is on the left
hand side. Please park on the left of the driveway. Regardless of
what other internet directions might say, DO NOT TAKE 40th AVE TO
GET TO THE EVENT. The landowner would like to keep traffic off of
    that street.

    Online Registration:
    http://www.scca-lol.org/rally/rallyx/schedule.php
Online pre-registration is requested and strongly encouraged. It will make
    day-of registration much easier.

    Fees:
    SCCA Members: $40.00
    Non-SCCA Members*:$55.00

*Non-members are required to purchase an SCCA Weekend Membership for $15.00. The weekend membership can be used as a $15 discount on a full SCCA membership.

    - All competitors and spectators must sign the official SCCA Waiver of
    Liability.

    - All minors present must have a minor waiver filled out.
Please download the registration and identification forms, and have
them filled out prior to the event.

    - All forms are available on the LOL web site:
    http://www.scca-lol.org/rally/rallyx/index.php

    - All competitors MUST work the course as a condition of event entry.

    - All competitors must have an FRS Radio
, radios cannot be shared between competitors.

    - All competitors must have a Snell 1995 or newer helmet.
Loaner helmets are available but the quantity is limited.

    Food & Gas:
Available in Cannon Falls, about 4 miles from the event site. As of now, plan on bringing your own lunch to both events. I am working on getting something set up for lunch as we have done in the past with MNSubaru but that is not yet confirmed.

    Schedule:
TBA, but competitors should plan on being there around 9am for both events for tech inspection and registration. The schedule for the RallyX will be the same as with previous events, and Mark will post the schedule for the school.

    Volunteers:
We have the necessary volunteers for tech inspection and safety stewards, but as always volunteers are needed to help work the course, be spotters for photographers, and in general help make sure everything runs smoothly. Volunteers will likely need to be there a little earlier than everyone else (around 8am) to go over safety information and plans for the day. Volunteers - please contact Mark Utecht (mayhem83) to let him know that you are interested in helping out and which day(s) you will be coming so that he can split up duties.

In addition, the LOL region needs our help! Currently, we only have 4 safety stewards in our region - Dennis, Kerry, Mark, and Brent. SCCA rules require that we have a safety steward on course at all times, which usually means that we actually need more than one so that we have someone to fill in while the safety steward is on course. The more safety stewards we have, the easier it will be to have MOAR RALLYX! One of the requirements for becoming a safety steward is that you "apprentice" for a day with an actual safety steward. Mark has said that either Saturday or Sunday would be a good chance to get in your "apprentice day". If you are interested in becoming certified as a safety steward, please contact me for further information.

    Etc:
As I will be at both of these events earlier than most folks, I will leave organizing a caravan up to others. Please post in this thread if you are interested in caravaning to the event.

Let me know if you have any additional questions - hope to see you at the event!!

we have to see what our install schedule looks like - we may have enough extra prep work on the car that it isn't practical to race sunday. (of course you can in another car).

No, but I'll take burnt on the outside/frozen on the inside hotdogs!

    I'll be there both days.

About the safety steward thing. Does apprenticing for the day mean you can't compete on Sunday or participate in the class on Saturday?

That's abuse of power if I've ever seen it!

Yeah, it's going to take me a few events to get into the mindset of holding back enough to get 4 clean runs rather than giving it the nuts and posting 1 fast run.

i bet you'd be much faster/cleaner in a slower car. You have solid driving skills, mucho better then me. That STI has too much power....some would say.

i will be there both days, not sure if i am going to compete though... in all seriousness, anyone running a lower powered car (stock to lightly modded wrx, or 2.5rs) want to let me drive it? and maybe for the rest of the season?

Pm me if you would like :)

Like I said, I'm pretty sure the 08 STI with only a tune is as fast as my stage 2 07 STI. Slightly less torque than my car, but 300+ wtq is PLENTY. I just have to figure out how to drive it.

It's a fun challenge tho. Especially considering how unpredictable the DCCD auto modes are . The power delivery, although abrupt coming into boost and a bit unpredictable at lower rpm, is at least fairly linear once in boost. Throttle modulation is tough in that car too since it hangs in second when you come off the throttle and doesn't respond well to heavy modulation in the 2500-3500 rpm range. Lexie's noticed it in daily driving too and Nate assures us it's an unresolved problem in the ecu logic. It's all things I encountered for the first time while on course... that wasn't very fun when pushing it at 8/10ths:ugh:. It's just gonna take more seat time to get used to.

Something like Joel's car, that only took a half lap or so to get comfortable in. Very neutral and very predictable. None of this electronic mumbo jumbo that wants to fight you every step of the way!

I'm really looking forward to the school as a shakedown/tnt session where I can get more familiar with the car. I still got tons to learn about driving too.

    L. O. L.

you better be there both days - you're doing tech inspection! and as to your question...

yes, if you are a safety steward you can still race, there just has to be a back-up steward who is not in your run group to watch the course while you are driving. to answer sheen's question, yes you can still participate in class and race while apprenticing. it will be up to mark u and kerry and brent as to how they want to work out the details (ie: on saturday or sunday, or maybe a little bit of both, etc.) tim, shoot me a PM with your email addy and i will forward you the info. sheen, check your inbox.

basically, first you'll go over what the duties of a steward are and there will be a pre-event review of the safety forms with the steward and you will walk the course with them. you should also be keeping an eye on the course throughout the day as an assistant to the safety steward. the final phase is that you serve as the safety steward at an event under the guidance of a steward and if at the end of the day they feel you are ready to handle an event alone, they will submit a license application. it's pretty painless, and just because you get licensed does not mean that you will be required to steward, but the more people we have certified the better!

or some would say you're just a sissy ;)

check 08 sti tuning thread, i think i've narrowed it down a bit more

    Weeee, paid.

You can only make use of the power you can get to the ground. It sort of makes things very dependent upon the course layout and grip levels. I'm noticeably hindered in auto-x but in rally-x, I really don't feel that way running NA, not to a great enough extent to ever be non-competitive.

Unless you can always break all 4 tires lose at any given time, you don't have more then enough power.

O.k., I'll stop doing my rain dance. It's an awfully nice equalizer though... :)

With the field thawed out by now it would be an awfull mess anyway and make for squishy shoes. Not the nice solid ice we had last event.

I'm pretty sure a windshield and windows are required even in the M4/2 classes. A window net may get you by but if I read the rules correctly windows can be replaced with lexan but it doesn't mention being able to remove them.

    From the Rally Modified class:

Side and rear windows may be removed or replaced with Lexan
or equivalent. Windshield may be replaced with Lexan or equivalent with addition of a full roll cage built to SCCA Improved Touring
    specifications or better.

I'll be out there in the morning on both days but won't be able to stay long.

Rain or shine, it's rallycross time!!

    6. Glass, with the exception of the front windshield, may be replaced with
    lexan or equivalent.

Page 21 of the pdf on the scca-lol site.

Eric, you would know the current rules better than I would. Are the rules posted not current or am I missing something?

I'm not trying to pick on anyone I'm just curious.

I do have a windshield, or at least am heading out to pick it up today. The rules changed in 09 to allow side/rear window removal.

There are a few links on teh SCCA-LOL site that are outdated or broken. There are 2 links to the rally-x rules, one goes to 08 book, and the other goes to the 09 version.

OK Here's the deal, we have only 6 registered entrants for the school and 12 for the RallyCross. That is just not enough to cover expenses. Please register now if you are intending to attend. I think we will get enough entrants for the event on Sunday but we need WAY more than 6 to go through the effort of putting on the school on Saturday.

    Register now at http://www.scca-lol.org/rally/rallyx/schedule.php

    Thanks,
