Great time today! Thanks to everyone who made it possible! It wasn't as muddy as expected, but I'm sure the photographers still got some great shots today. couple quick in-car vids:
Um..would have had in-car vids if I had the camera in video mode... I have 10 still in-car images of us sitting at the start line! :emo:  I think epic fail is an understatement. Oh well, I know there were a number of cameras out at this event, not sure if any vids though. p.s. the H6 scoots nicely. I want to put one in my car eventually...supercharged.
This was my first time using a gopro (borrowed it from Jackstand)... My first 5 runs were also stills lol. One vid was 3mins and ended in me looking into the lens trying to figure out how to turn it off. I think I'll require something more user friendly... errrr stoopid-friendly! Thanks for the compliment! It's still really front end heavy but I'm happy with it as long as it's running! I was considering an M62 supercharger but I think suspension should be looked at first... the stock replacement struts and stock springs got a WORKOUT yesterday  I've seen some really nice shots on facebook. Hopefully a few get posted here as well.
Suspension goes a long way in evening out the handling. Then it just becomes a matter of the tires holding up. It's not a big deal in rally-x, but in auto-x the blatant side effect of a front heavy car is front tire wear as well as gross differences in front and rear tire temp. The best method ends up being simply moving as much as you can from the front to the back end and then removing everything you can off the front, hacking sheet metal, swapping for carbon fiber, and doing whatever else you can to pull weight from the nose of the car. Whenever my Forester becomes my second car and I can finally do some serious work to it, the car will have no radiator in the front. There will be two side feed radiators by the rear tires. There'd be no washer bottle up front, no ABS, no AC, Oswald front bumper beam, carbon fiber fenders, missing sheet metal, etc. One goal I have is an eventual 50:50 balance, but I'd also like a supercharged H6 that's putting out 500-600 hp/tq and still have that balance. That may be tough to do, although I think SpeedyHam has some hints. He's down to 2k on his XP Impreza, but it's still super front heavy.
Yeah, there's plenty I can still do to balance the car out. Last time I had it on scales (to choose proper spring rates... which I still haven't done of course) it was close to 65/35. You can really feel it in an understeer situation. Depending on the surface you can usually power your way out of it since it make so much torque down low tho. There are still a ton of free or cheap mods I can do, but I'm just not motivated to do any of it. I still have the abs unit, cruise control, ac lines, and hood frame that I can delete. I can also relocate the battery and washer fluid to the passenger rear. Swapping out the stock passenger seat, gutting the cats, gutting more of the front bumper beam, and deleting the sun roof are also easy weight savings while keeping the car drivable on the street. I'll probably end up doing all of that after I sell it to Josh lol
