by your powers combined we form network planet!!

*ahem* with jokes aside i require some assistence for i cannot solve this problem nor can my boss....we have researched all over google and can't seem to determine a solution to this issue (ZOMG NO ANSWERS FOUND ON GOOGLEZ?! NOWAI!)

so without further adue i present to you my problem...

the printer i ripped out of the printer directory on the network wont print a test page says "failed to print test page bla bla bla" but it prints a page just fine. Now i know you'll say "so what it prints big deal" well it's kind of a bothersome event and wonder does anyone know what the deal is?

    things i've tried....

    1) testing to see if a firewall or other potential problem is blocking the client printing a test page

    2) making sure permissions on the server are all sound and decent.

    3) deleting re-adding the printer

    4) attaching the printer directly to the PC and print testing (works fine then)

    5) random cursing and moaning at the Printer.

Printer is an HP LaserJet 4250 PCL 5e

    OS is XP pro

    ANY suggestions?! :)

    much thanks

That's only the proper repair procedure for the PC Load Letter error. Sorry.

how's the printer attached to the network? Connected to a host through USB or parallel then shared or directly connected with JetDirect or similar?

OS on which machine is XP? client I assume. What about the server?

Sounds like you may be able to send data to the printer but aren't receiving acknowledgments back.

    it was 2k3 server

and it was attached via Ethernet jack into the wall we could print papers...but the real kicker was it wasn't letting us print a test page from the very same computer lmao
