"Ekku-shi-ga" is what it sounded like in the video. Looks pretty nice. My wife wants to trade in her 2011 CR-V for a slightly larger car - either a minivan or some other car with 3rd row seating as a more comfy family vehicle. Definitely will have to check it out when it hits our shores.
The pieces of information that I'm anxious to hear, are what engine they use, and what the towing capacity will be. Even the 3.6l Tribecas were only rated for 3500 lb with the accessory transmission cooler. That's pathetic. And the rumors I've heard seem to point towards turbo-4. Blech
At least it doesn't have a fake hood scoop , does the 4Runner seat 7? Is that an optional third seat? I don't remember them having a third row. Oh and BTW, starting to get a noise in my STI, creaking from the transmission tunnel sounds like. Same sound my 2011 WRX made, at least it took almost 3 years to show up.
Don't knock the fake hood scoop, how else am I supposed to get the sun to reflect into my eyes while I'm driving? 3rd row is available on the SR5 Premium and the Limited models. Also, the Highlander would be a much better apples to apples comparison. I'd have to drive the Subaru, but I can tell you that the Highlander is a very, very strong model in that segment.
Yuck. Looks nothing like the concept, but that's no surprise. I wish it had the big wheel arches. In any case, this is exactly what I'm curious about as well: But I'm not holding my breath for high towing capacity.
Another Subaru nerd has confirmed that video has been on the Subaru Japan website for years, and is apparently already being sold.
http://www.autoblog.com/2016/11/17/subaru-viziv-7-concept-la-auto-show-official/ Supposed to be the VZIV-7, 3/4 of an inch longer than the Tahoe. Prez of Subaru said it will be the biggest Subie ever produced. Even though this article is from last year.
I don't think this is it. Supposed to be a new platform and much bigger. Also I read this thing is supposed to be specific to the NA market and made here so I doubt it will be the same vehicle that has been sold overseas for years.
Got it, I was thrown off by them uploading and recycling a video. Did look smallish compared to what they have been hyping up. This is not the Ascent.
Wikipedia isn't my favorite source, but it is at least a good ballpark of knowledge. In this case...wikipedia indicates that the Exiga has been around since 2007: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Exiga
Yeah that's not the new SUV that we will get here in the states. From what I've heard it will have a turbo engine and be capable of 4900+lbs of towing. Not fact at this point but what I've heard to this point.
