Yup they have used that as pace car for many events if that is the same one....thought it was Illinois though...town starts with an I? Sorry for the limited info, just seen it before on nasioc in the Midwest section
Ok, that makes more sense. I know police departments aren't going to be buying fleets of late model Subarus as squad cars.
oh well i'm late on this apparently that article was from last july. but i don't know if its as cool as the zo6 they showed on top gear from north carolina(yet less practical)
There's some department in washington that uses LGT's. Not gimmick or donated LGT's, they actually purchase them.
That should even out the playing field, on top of that those counties that do come up to the BIR EVOC school's get first hand training on how to catch modified Imports around the track.
They use confiscated cars as undercovers. Lots of departments do that. Cottage Grove confiscated a silver Dodge Durango a few years back. They put the low profile lights throughout and use it as an undercover.
The one I'm thinking of actually researched, spec'd and purchased LGT's. I've always hated the idea of using confiscated cars as unmarked cruisers making traffic stops. It's one thing if it's actual undercover work, but pulling over the general public in a hoopty is ridiculous. Impersonating law enforcement happens. Trying to pull me over in a drug dealer's car is going to make me seriously question if a drug dealer is trying to "pull me over" and I'm going to have make some split decisions that aren't really fair to force me into.
I've been on enough Subaru cruises in my day to know exactly how the "backroad getaway" pans out. I've put out grass fires in a ditch.
That sounds familiar, probably the one I'm thinking of. I didn't realize they only did a single unit.
Sweet that would be fun, let me just say we do have a few Police Officers on our staff with motorsport background. I won't tell you which counties but trust me these boys can drive, pavement or gravel, winter or summer.
Oh god, that's not even the half of it. I lived there through my highschool years. I think they take any new confiscated vehicle that they haven't already got one of as a police unmarked, and make it an unmarked. This was back in 97 too. I remember heading to chicago and as I was leaving town on I65, I saw 6 different cars, all police unmarked, with someone pulled over. My advice to anyone driving through Indiana, don't speed. You have NO IDEA who is or isn't a cop.
It's got a State Official Use plate Holy ****, they let him drive a patrol car? I figured they'd saddle him up and let another officer ride around on top of him. I'm guessing he enjoys the ones who resist arrest.
At 6'1" 341lbs he's not far off from a horse http://www.poundstoneperformance.com/derek-poundstone.html
