http://www.autocar.co.uk/blogs/auto...2011/03/01/the-mitsubishi-evo-is-no-more.aspx Quote: The Lancer Evolution X, Eusegi told me, will be the last Evo. “There is still a demand [for the car],†he said, “but we must stop.†Eyebrow up. “Our influence now is EV technology,†Eusegi said, adding that the decision was a “policy changeâ€. It seems Mitsubishi, which is going to introduce eight full electric or hybrid cars by 2015, has decided its image is about lowering CO2, not making lurid replicas of rally cars that don’t go top-level rallying any more.
^ Are you getting sick of tuning subarus or are you sick of the subaru crybaby drivers. This rally sport is causing most of these production changes.
I thought they said a few times now that their 86 variant won't get STI treatment, and that they're reserving that for AWD models only
Things like? "my car didnt make as much power as I wanted" "my car blew up because I ran it out of oil, and I ran mobile 1" "my car wont start when its cold" "my car has a misfire now, I was doing 5th gear pulls for 3 hours to-and from duluth, whats the deal?"
Not this iteration. I'm guessing it takes subaru another 5 years to jump on the dori dori craze... if the market keeps trending that way.
The X GSR tranny is ridiculous. At least 2 syncros on everything? 3 on 1-2? Yes please. They did state today (via facebook like it's a new source or something) that they aren't officially axing it, but that future iterations will be determined by market and regulations (read: Obama's outlandish left-wing green-fad hippy goals that government bailed-out Americrapmobile manufacturers won't be meeting anyway). So we might get an XI after this, but probably nothing after that.
I for one will be sorry to see it go. I was hoping that I had timed my lease out perfectly to get the next Gen EVO if the rumors of a crazy 400 HP hibrid ever panned out. Mitsu is so into ev tech i thought they may just pull it off. Oh well, guess I'll have to stick with Subaru for the time being. Speaking of car news, has anyone seen the new Suzuki Swift concept from Geneva? Give that thing 250 HP + AWD and sign me up!
i'm not sure their losing the evo...i think they jsut want to move evos off the lot by giving this statement....
If you're referring to the MR tranny, they overheat on the track constantly. Subaru I think will be staying the same for a little while for sure. And yes the 6 speed in the STi is an amazing transmission and definitely comparable to the GSR transmission. Mitsubishi needs to learn how to market in the US, they're pretty terrible at it.
