LOL, the new competition for car companies will be to see who can get as close as possible to a competitor's design without actually breaking laws regarding intellectual property. Too bad Hyundai is making very legitimate, original designs now, the Hyundai of the 90's would have been a contender.
Don't forget Dodge in the '80s. I can't remember an original car or truck they had in that decade that was an original design. Oh wait thier mini vans, but that's it.
I actually like it better than the STI, it sorta makes sense that it might look like the STI since most people think the new WRX looks like a Focus and Ford <=> Mazda
0-60: zomg so fast from light to light. even faster in school zones frum dig: torque steer frum roll: teh f4stor
lol so much hate. I agree though, new mazda looks hideous. Focus RS front end looks like a mash up of a GC and an EVO X. Looks damn nice... too bad Ford's european division will never let us play.
Y'know, when I was in Japan, I was quite surprised by how many cars - particularly, but not exclusively, the minicars - appeared to be identical between manufacturers. Slightly different trim or detailing and of course different badging, but otherwise totally identical. Subaru, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Suzuki. I guess with co-ownership and a stumbling economy (starting in the 90's over there) developing a project together could make sense. Then just put your own signature on the finished project. Isn't there a Toyota/Subaru project everyone has been drooling over recently? Anyway, just some thoughts.
no hate for the ms3. its a fun car to drive 90% of the time. its the street racer srt4 mentality fanbois in my area that ruins the car for me... altho the same can be said for subarus these days... rumors are the rs might make it stateside. hope its not just a rumor.
All I can say is that if they do bring the Focus RS over to the states, it had better look like the one pictured in this thread. If they stick a bunch of plastic chrome crap all over it, it'll fail.
Agree. The Scion IQ they showed last night looks like a Smart on steroids, the Mazda looks like poop.
Like I keep saying IF there was a market Subaru would make it, but since they seem to be making money in this horse **** economy I'm gonna sit back and let them drive the bus ...
And there was much rejoicing... AWD would be better, but even if it's FWD, it should be fine. Every review/impression I've read says the thing has almost no torque steer, and it grips like an AWD supposedly (that's debatable). If the reviews are true, it's the only FWD I wouldn't mind owning, but to be honest, the new Cobalt SS also handles extremely well for a FWD with very little torque steer. However the Cobalt looks nowhere near as good as the RS.
i am fully aware of that. and i agree doesnt mean i cant wish for one. i think there is a market for one. however, the money saved by having one basic body shell probably out weighs the profit that would be made by having a 2 door offered.
I have heard the same thing^ If ford wants to sell cars they should have the cool stuff avaiable here too! I like the engine too (turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder Volvo engine with 305 hp) Is whats drive the awd in my wifes Volvo V70 R wagon and it a much bigger car then the focus.
they are both blue hatches :dunno: Rear window angle, c-pillar, taillights, diffuser... nope, not seeing it.
Ha, whatever. The rear side windows and rear fenders have the same shape. Granted, the Ford supposedly has 20 year newer designs, they have a relatively similar shape.
