OK everyone! Here's how it works. We are shooting for best time around the loop. Be honest too. Cheaters never prosper. Get a stopwatch and do it right...remember this is just for fun. You don't win anything. In fact, to ensure it stays fresh, we'll reset the scores every 3 months. It's Official: 73miles is the approximate distance. The Rules: 1) No speeding. You must do the entire run at or below the speedlimit. 2) You must remain ON THE 494/694. NO shortcuts! 3) Race is to be run counter-clockwise 4) That's it really. You can go at whatever time of day you want, but you must list the start time and stop time as well as the lap time. Also indicate your start point and end point. SO let the best man throw up the best time. If someone is willing to make their first run the "Odometer Run" please do so. Give us the most accurate count of the mileage around the Twin Cities. We will post it up as the official lap length. Good luck and have fun!!! Readymix 56min:10sec *speeding* LegacyPGT 56min:10sec *speeding* driftin240 56min:10sec *speeding* 6MTizzle 56min:10sec *speeding* KSAL: 52min:16sec *speeding*
OHH CRAP! I left my house at like 12:15 so i didn't see this post! I did the run starting from 169 and I went clockwise! oops. Plus I was speeding. I got 56 minutes. and from my odometer it was 73 miles. But i will probably do it again sometime when i'm board. I was averaging about 80mph. But it was fun. I got just over half of the movie Romeo must Die in during the drive. Have fun everyone! 73 Miles 56 minutes (12:41-1:37am)
AWW DAMN. Aight. I think I'm going to sneak out and do this. My wife will be pissed, but whatever. I know I can do better than 57min.
Yes, I pussed out. I got the bug to begin my trek at 1:45am. Far too late to begin such things. Plus, I'm tired. Maybe tomorrow if I get bored I'll give it a shot.
What does it matter if you go clockwise or counter-clockwise??? Its the same distance!! Well readymix if you are gonna do better than 57 mins then you are gonna speed! Thats breaking the rules! I think that we should get rid of that rule! If someone wants to do it at the speed limit then we can know how fast it SHOULD take. BUt if you are going out good luck! Its a fun drive, I was just skerd that there was gonna be a cop chillin under a bridge. I really didin't want to get a ticket for going 120 mph, get my car taken away, loose my licence for 6 months and probably go to jail. Otherwise it would have been way quicker!
OK, no rules then. Just try to cut the fastest lap. You do have to stay on the 694/494 though. And KSAL, next time use a stop watch. This could come down to seconds at some point.
Ok i will! When are we thinking of the power tour?? Maybe this evening?? or tonight later?? I like the sounds of that!!
It only takes about an hour! If you do it at like 10 or 11 we will be done early! I'm not sure of the advantages. I don't think there really are any.
because my car takes forever to hit speed limit.....besides it's no rules..all you turbo guys can outrun me.
we should do a group run, just send someone 15 or 20 min early to alert others to cops posted at bridges and whatnot
I plan to run this in my Mini-van for stealth mode... when I'm doing someting illegal while in the process... I hope to get away with it using my mini-van as an excuse.
interesting. since there has been some debate about the speeding thing. why dont we just keep two seperate times. a speedy time and a legal time. that way it can be competitive on what ever level you want. wehter you want to play it safe, or if you think you can out run the po-po. not too much harder to do it either just stagger the times. example: Speedy: 73 Miles - 56 min Slow: 73 miles - 1hr 12min not too hard, and it looks nicer
....or we just have Dream do a lap at ludicrus speed and have the entire state force after him. Then it will be free and clear for the rest of us.
yeah i can barely drive the speed limit on normal days. kinda lame that 5 over isnt going to work for the legal version :-(
KSAL, sorry, your time is now null and void. You originally posted 57, then bumped it up to 56...you don't lose whole minutes. And if we are going to do this, we need minutes and seconds...I'm saying this because: Readymix - Speedy - 56min:10sec LegacyPGT - Speedy - 56min:10sec Driftin240 - Speedy - 56min:10sec 6MTizzle - DNF - 56min:10sec if he had stayed with the group. I have the time and average speed and distance saved on my CAMP.
Yeah thats fine that you void my time but the only reason i changed it was because i did my math wrong. 12:41-1:37 is 56 mins not 57! But thats fine i will run again soon and post a time with mins and seconds
OK! Now I done it right! I met up with a buddy out off of 65 & 694. We did the loop CONTER CLOCKWISE. It was a little scarry passed 4 cops who had already had people pulled over! Also hit dumb road consruction but was only stopped for about 2 mins. I did the loop in 52min:16sec.12. But i wasn't speeding! lol
We should do this together some time and start from praire center dr and 494 and go counter clockwise.
Yes, but we started doing it clockwise because KSAL did it clockwise. It doesn't matter really I guess. Just go have fun...and bring a stopwatch.
It's ok man. And I'd like to bring up a good point...this should be done with friends. Bring someone with in the car and someone else driving. It helps to have someone else to pace and keep pace with. Also, I am doing this again. I found out my HKS CAMP does a wonderful job of giving me realtime average speed and distance and time. This should help in figuring out how fast or slow you need to be going to make up time.
I'll have to wait until next weekend to do my run since the legacy suspension install took a bit longer than expected.
