Shout out to anyone that would rather stay on the "West side" of the cities for a spot to meet up to have some beers and by that I mean Golden Valley, Plymouth, EP, Hopkins, Minnetonka I dunno anywhere else. I see you people in my commutes and local travels. Taking a shot...

I love how @Curry and @derp replied in the main winter Tuesday thread, neither of which are planning on attending winter meats lol.

To drac...we go through this "switching venue" discussion every year, and it always ends in flames. It never hurts to try though, and I'm definitely open to suggestions. I've been traveling a lot more, so its tough for me to make it out every week, but I do make an appearance when I can.

To make this successful, I think we either have to have two locations for the Tuesday meet (which is what I think you're suggesting), or alternate locations, every other Tuesday. You might honestly have more success with starting your own West side meet, but I would be sure to plan it plenty far west so that the crazy east siders don't crash your party :smoke:

Or don't do it on Tuesday and avoid the historically unresolvable issues. That would be my approach if I were so inclined.

Thanks for the input, the alternating spot was my initial proposal in the main thread but things started going in a bad direction quick. I'm open to a different day altogether as well. Monday Night Football maybe? Thursday?

I never said I wasn't going to attend a winter meet, I am just not going to go often.

Also, I don't really care where the meet is but other people do. Its always been contested in Roseville because its not easy to get to for some people. No one is ever going to be happy but there is no harm in having a dialog.

Avoid ****ting on existing events. Would you schedule your own cruise on LAX day and hope you destroyed LAX participation "to prove a point"? Dick move.

Yeah, I can see that. Just didn't cross my mind since I was directed to start a new thread and pitch a second meet. Guess I was still a tad butthurt....

Drac if suggest an alternate night, maybe later in the week, that way there's no event-high jacking drama and people wouldn't have to choose one over the other (and whatever implications/ hurt feelings that might cause blah blah).

Ever been on the midwest forum on Nasioc? They have meets in damn near every suburb. Sure, MSP is not as large as Chicago, but we are plenty large to have two weekly meet locations.

I saw something about a Friday night meet so I avoided that day on purpose and Wednesdays are no good for me which left Mon/Thurs and I just assumed weekends people like to keep for themselves.

I think the Friday night thread is a throwback, it only happens occasionally now when someone proposes it on a random day. Unless I'm wrong (other mods?), I think Friday's fair game if someone wants to step up and take ownership of a regular event.

There's a ton of Subaru owners in the South that don't have a regular meet because of the distance to go to the cities. We should move this to Whistle Binkie's North in Rochester on Tuesdays so there's options outside of the Metro.

I don't see anything wrong with having another Tuesday meet on the west side (or Wed or whatever to avoid butthurt but Tuesday works best for me), I would probably go to it instead if more people will show up... only 4 of us showed up to the one this week at Stouts and no one but me lives on the east side.
If the people who really care to keep it on the east side show up it might be a different story but it was a discouraging first winter meet.

Not even a throwback. There just isn't a venue and no one has stepped up to contact local businesses and LEO to ensure a safe, welcoming spot for an inevitably large turnout Friday meet spot.

I'd be keen on a West meet, but it doesn't mean I'd actually go. In my experience, there is an inherent issue: people are all talk.

We wasted time organizing meets in Mankato too, went great the first week, second week dramatically trailed off, and by the third and fourth week it was all hand-raisers and people bailing out or simply no-shows.

I make a point to make it to every tuesday meet when I am in town, definitely not a hand raiser but that is an issue for some people.
If more than 3 other people are willing to show up I don't care where it is.

Just going to throw this out there, why not do every other week? One Tuesday on the east side and the next on the west? I think this could be a good solution.
Here are some places along 394

JJs sports bar on Wayzata blvd east of Louisiana

Tgi fridays on the south side of 394 near west end

There's a legion on Glenwood and 100, not sure if they'd take kindly to our type around there but its worth a shot.

Kipps Irish pub and restaurant near 394 and 169

Hell, there are tons of NE bars that might be dead on a tuesday that we could go to.

This is coming from a guy who hasn't been able to make it out to a meet yet because of my work schedule, but im hoping i have a few Tuesday nights off soon.

Possible suggestions for NE bars. The NE Yacht Club, Elsies are practically neighbors to boom island too for all that are opposed to meeting in roseville.

Unless there's a bowling league, the lot at Elsies is pretty empty so we could take over part of the lot. Good suggestion.

Everywhere is west of Kuwait. I demand the meets be closer to me. I'd settle for every saturday at the market in Kuwait City.

This needs to be in Rochester to spread the meet locations around more. I thought this was MNSubaru, not TCSubaru?

    Unnecessary complexity for zero benefit.

edit: *Zero benefit compared to having it on a different day for each area.

I think its smart to do the most centralized location to make it equitable for the largest number of people. In this case, we are still likely not going to cater to people who live in the outer rings. At the end of the day not everyone is going to be happy.
