    Hey MNSUBARU! I know, I know, SR20>Ej257, Subaru>Nissan...

Lol back to topic, I know it's not the right forum but doesn't hurt to try....
My sis has car problems related to Limp Mode. I'm thinking it's MAF related but we just changed it last year around this time since the old one went bad.

    5th gen Maxima. Auto, ~130k I think.

Long story, she's driving down the highway at ~60 and the car decides to go into limp mode so it fuel cuts at ~2700rpm. Limps the car to my parents place and I try to figure out why. I turn the car on and give it some fuel. Light throttle, car hits the fuel cut in park and neutral. Took it around the block, will shift into all 4 gears but still hits the fuel cut.
When I punch the accelerator, it stalls as if it seems like the ECU isn't giving the motor enough air to compensate for the added fuel. I unplug the battery and try to reset the ECU but to no avail. The motor makes clicking noises like it doesn't have enough juice going to the starter but it cranks just fine. It's coming from firewall side of the motor. I don't think it would be the spark plugs that would be the cause of it all.
I'm stuck, she might just have to take it in to a shop to have them look at it but I don't want her to get ripped off as well.
What I'm thinking is at it would be a bad cat? She does have a hole in the system that just recently developed. Could that be the culprit throwing the car into limp mode? Bad o2 sensor? I know its not tranny related but I still have yet to pull the codes from the car. I tried it last time from OReily but the computer couldn't pull the codes from the ECU.... Once my friend gets back from Illinois, I'll go borrow his reader and try to get some codes. Terrible timing as well since I leave to Cali on Wednesday....

Thanks for any input guys! :)

Bad cat shouldn't send into limp mode, clicking sounds like a bad solenoid?

Could be a bad solenoid. I'll look into that more. Codes would be really helpful to get a better direction. I know shes going to have multiples ones....

Gas cap tight? Intake boxes/tubes/ hoses/ fittings tight? Check to make sure there isn't a family of squirrels nested in your intake?

Gas cap is good. Ill check the hoses and vac lines tomorrow morning. No squirrels although she does need a new filter. Forgot to add that when the motor is running and I unplug the MAF, it still runs the same with it plugged in. Ill try to get a video of it tomorrow to better showcase the problem.
