I just got back from Daytona Beach, and the big car show down there. And I noticed something kind of disturbing Subarus are very poorly represented in the south. During the car show, even if they werent in the car show every body who had a half way decent car showed up and cruised. I counted 13 Evolutions in a row driving together, plus another 5 or so that were there at seperate times. I was the only STi there, that I seen anyways, Ther was a half a dozen Cobalt SS, half a dozen Ion Redlines, and a bunch of RX-7, Supras, and about 100 ricey Civics, in various states of riceyness. The Orlando 350Z club showed up with about 20 strong, and all were heavily modded. I seen 3 WRX. all three were bugeye's, in kind of poor condition, And excepy for loud exhaust didnt appear to be Modifed. I know all wheel drive isnt a big deal down south, for the lack of snow, but Lancer Evolutions are huge.

subarus sell very poorly south of the mason dixon line. They started a pilot dealership in plano texas to try to figure out why people down south don't buy their cars.

Fact is they simply have too much association with cold weather sensible all weather mobiles for people from vermont.

I just got back from daytona as well.

I completely agree with you. I couldnt stand the amount of chrome I saw on EVERYTHING down there.

the lack of adverse driving conditions is my bet. they have no need for a AWD car which doesnt get near the mileage of a FWD/RWD car. and the evos, i blame that on The Fast and the Furious crowd. if they had Pugeots in those movies you would see an equal number of them down there.

That's my dealership now. They're also the purveyors of HotSubarus.com for Cobb parts and such, they even install and warranty them (much more so than a regular dealership does at least). I'm going to an open house there this weekend too, BYOB event and apparently they party pretty late there. Certainly different than every dealership I've ever been to.

I was in Daytona setting up a store right across from the raceway the week before the big race and of course there were mostly domestics. I think in a place like that especially you're going to see more American flavors. Texas seems to represent the Subaru community somewhat decent, though nothing like what I've seen in Washington and New England.
