Well, I over-did it a bit on lighting my garage. I had previously installed an eight foot double fluorescent lamp. It was throwing a few to many shadows for me, so I added a bit of light.

I am now have 550 watts of fluorescent lighting. I added two eight foot, High Output (110 watt) double fluorescent lamps.

It's like like the freakin' sun has invaded my garage.

The lights are arranged in a U shape in the garage.

My buddy's dad used to have a garage with about two dozen double four footer's on the ceiling and and three mounted on each wall about four feet op from the floor. He did body work though.

It was fun to just turn them on due to the instant HUMM from all the lights

You can never have too much lighting in a garage. And a BIG plus for the low-level lights. They're amazing even just for changing oil.

I've seriously been thinking of adding 4 more 4-footers to my garage (only have two now). I did put in some halogens right over the workbench, but they trip the auto-darkening on my welding helmet, so they hardly ever get turned on.

The low-level ones are an interesting idea. Won't really work for me though, as there's storage stuff pretty much ringing the whole garage.

The one in back is a standard one. Both lamps are 55W. The other two are the High Output ones. Each lamp is 110W

    Looks nice.

Yeah, you can never have too many lights. Here's my garage right after I got the sheetrock up and the lights installed. I have since built some better workbenches and shelves and cleaned the floor. But yeah, I could use even more light sometimes.

While I am trying to stay out of mine, your trying to find a way to get into yours. I missed the opportunity to check out BMW's Annual Garage Door Opener. Where you can checkout some of the coolest garage setups around. And great job with the lighting.

    Enjoy!

I had to drop the ceiling to get around some plumbing and ductwork, but I wanted to keep as much headroom as possible. It was also very good practice for hanging drywall and muding/taping. I also put a knock-down texture on the garage ceiling to practice before doing upstairs. So yeah, it's kinda "fancy" for a garage ceiling.

I like the ceiling, even if it does look a little weird, adds a little flavor imo.

Another new addition to the garage. A cheap 22" monitor hung on the wall, my extra sat. box spitting out HDMI and converting to DVI for the monitor, and a cheap old computer.

The comp's got just enough power to play a DVD, and it's got the service manuals for the cars, as well as one click access to the alldata info on both cars.

Now all I need is a fridge and a couch ;)

Oh, and eventually I'll paint the little sat box shelf to match, but for now it's staying ugly.

I see several things missing from that garage: more lighting, an oxy torch, and a bench big enough to have a vice, a grinder, and an anvil.
