Lol at least its only a day. I have worked 3rd shift for a long while now and just got moved to first shift today. My sleep schedual just did a 180
I'm sitting at Hormel in Austin, waiting to collect fresh blood(think beer bong and buckets) from the hogs........120 gallons today mmmmmm!
they bounce my schedule around, weekly. I have a few 8am to 4pm shifts, then a few 4pm to midnight shifts, then 0000 to 0800, then back to 4pm to midnight, then midnight to 8, then 8 to 4, etc. all on different days of the week, but guaranteed to work at least 2 shifts over every weekend this month. I'd much prefer to have a set schedule than bounce between them. I don't really have a sleep schedule. I just kinda sleep when i'm tired, then get up whenever i wake up. usually don't have to set an alarm. absolute murder on any sort of social life i used to have on weekends, though.
Benny, how long have you been a driver for Hormels? I used to hold the 3rd shift (10-6am) blood room job there, right down in the middle of that horrid smelling pit! I had the wonderful task of seperating the plasma from the blood, filtering it to a certain level, then after the hogs were all killed, I'd have to clean all the machines in time for the start of the day. I must say that the way they kill hogs is kinda humorous when they jump off the table before they can get stabbed...
Why is this not acceptable? http://mnsubaru.com/threads/the-official-only-post-past-2am-thread.15543/page-22#post-280332
Small world I actually work for a place in Mpls that makes fancy schmancy scientificy stuff outta the blood. I'm just the lucky one who gets to make the drive to "collect" the goods. If you've ever made your way up to the kill floor during that first shift and saw a guy with 5 gallon jugs and a funnel, chances are it was me(two us us do these runs) And yes runaways are fun except for the part that they are normally jumping off right at me and the guy with the sharp knife about a foot to my left. It's 100% acceptable but understand that the OP joined 8 months after that threads last post and there's not really a clear way of searching for that thread. besides this subject doesn't come up as often as STi ATV's or OMG SNOW!!! so I figured it was no biggee.
I occasionally made my way to the kill at the beginning of 1st shift, this was years back though. I caught a particularly humorous evening when the QPP guys had to chase one of the hogs down, I thought it interesting the little CO2 thing they used to punch their skull with to knock em out. I also had to make the anti coagulant so the blood didn't thicken up and clog my lines, and trust me, forget it once and you never want to forget it again! Takes forever to clean out them stinking lines! haha
Meaning 215 without boxers? Well, I failed but now I have something to work towards big fella. This was 205 last month at bw 180lbs... next month I should be at bw 170... 215 or bust.
I am convinced that there is nothing worse than working an overnight while you are sick. I am ****ing miserable.
I was just driving home from work, when I saw a car on the side of the road w/ a flat tire. I-94e between cretin and snelling. the guy was up ahead walking without a hat on. I picked him up, he didn't have a spare tire, phone, or cash. I drove him to a SA on grand, so he could call a tow truck/cab. (he did have a ATM card) (most of the gas stations are closed after 12am around here) now is a dangerous time to be walking on the interstate, with bar close and the road conditions. be safe out there, and be prepared.
I'm in a controlled access government building. all outside doors are locked via electric cipher lock. further, I am in a restricted area inside that controlled access building, which requires a different cipher lock to get in. there are no outside windows. you would literally need a bomb to get at me. In short, I'm safe Can't speak for anyone else.
Looking forward to cars and coffeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee two hours till my replacement gets here. I hope he shows up early as hell.
I used to work at Kinkos M-F 8am-5pm. Then they needed someone to work 3rd shift, but only on Friday nights. So I moved to M-Th 8am-5pm and Friday 10-7am. That was brutal. I only made it 3 weeks before I started falling asleep in the empty store. By then they had a new person set up, so I managed to survive just long enough. As for why I am awake right now? It's 10pm, bed time!
