i can't believe people just assume some random, unmarked tow is doing anything legal. as they said, if its legit, there would be NO reason why there wouldn't be company markings on the side of the truck.
Ok, so, wtf do we do then when a tow truck comes around claiming to tow us? (- Durr.. Edit.. and answer to my own ? I guess ask them for their papers. If they say no, call the cops.) Also, after talking with a tow truck driver one time, I got the feeling that there is nothing we can do to stop your car from getting towed if they really wanted too. I mean, E-Brake, In Gear, Club, Car Alarm. Does anyone know a sure fire way?

nothing you can do...but call the cops, if they wont provide papers take the plates down and call the damn cops. seems pretty logical to me.
I've read somewhere before about somebody did wrote down the tow truck plates # but it turn out to be stolen plate!!

And yea, only sure fire way is, dont let them leave until the cops show up. More then likely if they are for real, then they'd threaten to call the cops first. Sorta like if you're tryin to get into a club with a real ID and they say its fake, you tell them to call the cops. (Which would prove it real and that you arent BSin them).
That is horrible. If a tow truck was trying to tow my car i would go to jail defending my car! Tow truck driver would have to beat me retarded before i would let him load it up.
Dont they have the "Right" to tow any car they want? Or whats the law on Towing? Im curious cause I thought I heard somewhere that they can carry a stun gun to "Protect" themselves... Maybe it was on one of those crappy Discovery Channel shows where they inpound shat. Idk
Repo firms are required to NOTIFY the local Police prior to the repo of the car. That way when you call the car in stolen, they just tell you to call the bank. The best defense for this is LoJack!
