Treadin Thin Ice Rallycross The first Land O' Lakes Rallycross event for 2009 will be held Sunday March 8th in Cannon Falls, MN. MNSOC (Minnesota Subaru Owners Club) will be providing lunchtime food and drinks at the Rallycross for a small donation. The proceeds will be going to Apple Tree Dental, a non-profit that provides dental care to those that need assistance. Everyone come on out and compete, spectate, or just eat a hot dog. This will be a fun event and the money will be going to a worthwhile cause. The course is about ¾ of a mile long, with a combination of twisty switchbacks and open sweepers. It is set up in a soybean field with the course groomed by the owner. This course will be very similar to the one from last year's Dirty Jackolantern rallyx. Depending on how the conditions pan out we may split it down into two halves - one for the morning and one for the afternoon to avoid major rutting. I went down on Feb 21st and the ground was still rock hard so unless the next two weeks feature very high temps or a lot of rain I don't think we need to worry about the venue deteriorating. Directions from HWY 52: Take the Cannon Falls exit and head WEST on HWY 19 for 3.5 miles. Turn LEFT on 30th AVE and go .5 miles. Turn LEFT on 325th St. and go approximately .6 miles. The driveway to the event is on the left hand side. Please park on the left of the driveway. Regardless of what other internet directions might say, DO NOT TAKE 40th AVE TO GET TO THE EVENT. The landowner would like to keep traffic off of that street. COMPETITOR REQUIREMENTS: ONLINE REGISTRATION AT (registration may not be functioning - check back until it is up and running!) http://www.scca-lol.org/rally/rallyx/schedule.php Online pre-registration is requested and strongly encouraged. It will make day of registration much easier. Please download the registration and identification forms, and have them filled out prior to the event. The 2009 LOL Rallycross Championship will be run under the 2009 SCCA Rallycross Rules and the 2009 LOL Championship Rules. Wow, coming up fast. I gotta get my tires ordered. If the conditions allow it I'd prefer one large course. But if it's going to degrade then two courses is fine, they'd still be plenty big.
It all depends on how warm it gets in the next few weeks. I'm leaning toward having 2 - they'll still be as large or larger than cannon falls 2 and it gives us options if conditions are less than ideal. and yes, this is coming up soon! I will post full details asap, right now I'm filling out paperwork!
Yeah, as appealing as it may be to have a long course, I'm also sketchy on the conditions and would be real bummed to have a short day on during the 1st rally cross of the year if the conditions go to hell. There's enough room to have two small/medium size courses and we can move to the 2nd if needed.
+1 who wants to let me drive there car this year? lol i hope to have my car ready for later in the year.
I can't wait. 2 courses may be a good idea. I would prefer 1 large course but if that doesn't work I can live with 2 shorter ones. The only issue I can see is the trouble with moving the timing equipment around.
True! I'd prefer 1 long course since every little mistake you make gets magnified, but 2 would be fine too...
so this is why you asked about my place... yeah unfortunately if I had an area that was able to be used I doubt it would be large enough to host a full event.. maybe a bunch of guys for fun...
woot..cant wait hot carl u already know how I feel as you asked me yesterday...I just hope my car is running right..oh well...im going anyways..btw just realized I did not sign in this is not dave...its Emily..my hard drive crashed so I am borrowing his computer for the time being...
I was confused for a second lol. I did talk to dave yesterday but it was about something else
I like having a longer course. Makes all the breath holders dizzy by the end Just go easy on the outside cones and people will use all kinds of different lines around corners, keeping the ruting down.
I'm going to have ryan design a course that can either be 1 or 2 - as long as it doesn't rain a ton or get really warm we should be ok
I like a longer course, too, but I'm not picky! i just wanna rallyx! Count me in for sure either way. I've got my own wheels/tires finally - winterforces. I won't have my sti springs/tokico dspecs in yet, but I'll still be ready either way. Can't wait to see everyone there! -Derek
in for this. i'm leaning towards two, but that's just because boss won't likely be ready to be totally beaten on yet so smooth course in the morning + afternoon would be good. and that's a totally douchey reason, so feel free to ignore it. otherwise normally i'd prefer one long one. "because it makes the breath holders dizzy..."
Some of the tech guys might have to "test" the car out to make sure everything's running properly.
I just pre-registered, however I didn't pre-pay. What are my options to pre-pay for this event? Or am I SOL?
Everyone who pre-pays will get a chance to drive it an equal number of times! Where the number of times <= 0.
If you want, you can re-pre-register and pay if you wish and I'll clear out your extra entry. That's the easiest way. Payment at the event is possible too, but the cost is higher.
Please do this for me too, Mark (delete my pre-reg). I accidentally closed out my browser while looking for for an online membership form...
I am going to try and make it out. I have so many things going on, but hopefully I will be free for Sunday. I will also hopefully have the MNSOC radio bin up and running by then. Russ
I registered just for the hell of it lol! If my car is running I'll try and use and abuse it. I need to remember to make some trophies this weekend!
come on out! it's a great time - don't be afraid of the cones. do what I do, intimidate them by taking out their leader on your first lap
Hmm... killing the head cone, huh? Sounds like your trying to get me to take some time penalties ;-P. Are spectators fairly free to pick their viewing spots?
dang! this is coming up quickly! Looking forward to it...when does the smack talk start??? Hopefully the shedancer won't be wrecked after ice racing. I really hope I don't have to climb through the monkey bars to get into it. Brent did get a new drivers side door. So hopefully that will be fixed before the IIRA ice race this weekend.
