He used that motor due to the power in an extremely light weight package. He put it in that spot to keep the polar moment of inertia as low as possible. Next week I can scan the article.
You're kidding right? He did a fantastic job on the layup. I would have put a layer of aramid in with it for some toughness.
Yus, purpose-built cars are cool. The ridiculous wings are to make some downforce in the low speeds of autocross. No flaming on that from me. Add a turbo to that busa motor and that thing would be scary. The power those motors can make on stock internals is disgusting. Let alone a decent bottom end....
