You should have some common sense about your car, there's a huge difference between someone racing their ride that'll do a 10's at like 140mph and one that does like 13's at 100mph. A point does come when your car is too fast for fun in public.
You're alot less likely to lose control of the slower car. It's also not a good idea to race around crowds or traffic, basically just don't do any thing that you wouldn't do by yourself when just driving for fun.
this is one of the comments to the story on that page: "story on CNN says a woman, 27, saved her child but was not able to safe her father. Sorry, but what the heck are kids doing watching street racing at 3:40 am. Just another example of pure stupidity". I just dont get why its pure stupidity for people to be watching a race at 3:40AM. I think that could of been anybody standing there on the side of the road. Its so easy for people to judge others that do not know everything. Yes i know street racing is dumb and very unsafe. But its just so easy for some people to point fingers, you know?
From this story it is not even clear if the car the did the damage was part of the race: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=4301114. Looks like a Town Car or Caddy - hard to believe somebody was dragging one of those beasts. Crumpled roof and the passenger died...probably means the passenger was killed by a body coming through the windshield. Brutal.
The latest update is the white Caddy was legally driving on the highway when it encountered the "race fans" standing in the middle of the road. According to the police, the prelaunch burnout had generated a cloud of smoke and that after the cars left, the bystanders moved onto the road, whereupon they were hit by not only the sedan, but a semi following behind it. Neither vehicle was said to have been able to see through the smoke cloud. And it wasn't a passenger dead in the car, it was a bystander. :eek4:
They said the guy popped out from behind the 2 main cars racing with his headlights OFF and went out of control. Idiot.
One person said the headlights were off. By that time they could well have already been broken out by the damage. No charges are being filed against the driver of the white car, so I'd say he was probably driving legally and without any intoxicants in his system. I put the blame on the racers and spectators. Tux, who's the bigger idiot: The guy driving legally or the crowd that wanders into an active roadway to watch two other idiots race?
There is NO good reason for street racing, ever! We have race tracks for this. Why is it that most of the people that street race never come to the track? Mike
So since it was a spectator that was killed by an uninvolved motorist would the person/people who organized the event be charged with vehicular manslaughter? Or is it whoever is charged with the felony for participating in the event?
meh. i'll still watch them, but for the love of god it sounds like this was on a highway, who the F stands around on a highway no matter what is going on?
I street razered an X5 (3.0L) in my wife's Odysseus today on 77S. That chach was not happy when the Dragvanofcertaindeath powned him. I think his overly manicured GF probably broke up with him... Filthy chach DIAF. Evolution works as brutal as it may seem.
Yeah, they'll probably get charged with manslaughter. DA's have nothing better to do. Remember, speed kills and it's not your fault if you stand in the middle of a highway!
back in Australia we did... best places to pull cars away from the road over there.. lots of grass area... but we usually did that BEHIND the starting spot.. not up the road where they could lose control and spin out... oh that was when I USED TO WATCH the street racing...
Unfortionatly this will put another bad mark on the tuner/car worlds. Its not the white cars fault for driving. Although he is at fault going through a cloud of smoke you cannot see through at speed, That almost as retarded as street racing.
Your welcome. To bad that driver who did that is ruining the tunner world even more. FnF already hit us huge! stupid ricers!
Oh well. The 'tunning' world is full of retards with slow cars anyways. Hopefully the next HIN will have a massive NOS failure and blow up the convention center sending remnants of visors 50 miles into the atmosphere.
Both!!! Why would you drive with your headlights off? Why do you street race? Especially in the WINTER TIME. It's cold at 3am in the morning! What are they still doing up?
Reading comprehension > you. Did you read my previous post? The other driver was driving legally (as in with his headlights on) and that by the time the person saw him without headlights they'd probably already been broken. In other words, he wasn't driving with his headlights off. Otherwise he'd be getting charged right now.
Hardly. Do you come to a complete stop when you encounter a fog on the road? Especially fog on a road you know? Sure you may not just barrel through at full speed but I doubt you'd come to a complete stop and crawl through it. Silly rabbit, roads are for cars! Point is moot anyway. Unless the person driving the car that hit those people was committing a greater felony than the one occurring due to the street race they won't be at fault. The street race was ultimately responsible for those people wandering into the street when otherwise the street would be empty. It's also reasonable to assume the street would be fairly void of most traffic of any sort at that time of the morning. As I mentioned before, and I'm not sure the exact legal wording of this, the incidents that occur as a result of an ongoing or recently committed felony are the fault of that felon even if they weren't directly responsible themselves. I learned this the only time I had been called to jury duty.
