This is pretty old news, Bobby Rush has been trying to get this one passed for a while but it never makes it out of committee.

The slimy bastard even named it the "Blair Holt" bill trying to capitalize on the murder of a young man to further his political agenda, to say nothing of the fact that this bill is unconstitutional at its core.

Bobby Rush can lick my taint.

Those are the first thoughts that come to my head. Give me a little bit, I'm sure I can come up with a few more.

I dont really get the purpose of the bill, cuz if i understand it correctly it doesnt effect you if you have
    · It registered.
    · You are fingerprinted..
    · You supply a current Driver’s License.
    · You supply your Social Security number.
    · You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing.

so if you have a SS number then i guess it doesnt effect you? if thats correct then the bill would only be targeting illegal aliens with guns. and i'm alright with that, seems like a logical way to put one more thing against gang members.

idk, just my 2cents. correct me if i'm wrong

Are you reading only that small part?

Just to name a few other details:

Now ALL GUNS must be listed on your next (2010) tax return!
It will require fingerprints and a tax of $50 per gun.
Each update change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25. Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail.

I for one will never register any of my firearms, nor pay a tax to own them.

Yes, that's just what we need is a list of people who own guns that's under the control of the government.

Bobby Rush is one of the most radical members of Congress, and his anti-gun stance is well known. Actually, pretty much any politician out of IL is known for an anti-gun stance, seeing as they're one of the most restrictive states to own a gun in. So much for the Second Amendment.

Nancy Pelosi said something last year that will probably be the only thing I ever agree with her on. After Eric Holder came out and said that he wanted to re-institute the Assault Weapons Ban (which did precisely dick point squat other than cost the Democrats the House and Senate in the mid terms) she said that instead of adding new laws we should try enforcing the ones that are already on the books.

Gun control laws do nothing but hinder law abiding citizens who want to own firearms. Criminals will always have them. Banning guns isn't going to work, and it's against the Constitution to boot. It's the PC thing to do after any sort of shooting incident to say "We need tougher laws". A law doesn't matter to someone who's made up their mind to start killing fellow citizens. However, allowing a citizen to defend themselves may be a deterrent.

Taking guns away from citizens is never an overnight process, it's a slippery slope.

Hahaha, this is right up there with Janet Nepolitano (head of Homeland "Security") saying that Afghanistan and Iraq vets need to be watched because we are more likely to join radical anti-government groups, and that we need to be evaluated before we purchase firearms, etc..... Like Brian said above, all taking guns from citizens does is empower criminals, they're still going get the guns somehow....
