702-520-1131 keeps calling me and leaving me a message that my auto warranty is about to end blah blah blah. Does anyone else get these calls? I did some research (10 sec google search :)) and found these:

"The morons behind this 702-520-1131 auto warranty scam are known child molesters in Nevada. They use the money gotten from fake auto warranty sales to finance child prostitution and pornography schemes. Since they get cooporation from the DMA (Direct Marketing Association), who bribes legislators, there is nothing you can do to stop this harrassment. The DMA has well documented track record of supporting illegal activity involving various crimes commited via telephone, internet, and postal service. Because of the large amounts of money being paid as "campaign contributions," we are powerless to protect ourselves."

    and...

"Receive this call often stating my car warranty is expiring. Press two to get your name off the list, press one to talk to an agent.

I've pressed 2 every single time I get this call - I press two. Today I pressed one, told the agent I didn't have my info & asked for a phone number to call back, they gave me 800 444 2200 which is a sex hotline."

i want to stab the car warranty place in the face

Every time they call i ask to be removed, last time they called i opted to talk to someone, and i explained to them that subaru, although great automobile probably doesn't have a 200K mile warranty. then I voiced them my disgust for how annoying they are, and they ALWAYS call when i'm taking a nap.

    ****ers!

This is the only way to get your number removed.

These people call me all the time too...I was annoyed at first, but now I mess with them. I tell them I'm very interested and tell them I have 3 new cars that I'd like to have warrantied. I usually string it out for a couple minutes until I get bored. I usually end the call by tell them I have blood all over the floor and have to go....

I've been getting letters about my auto warranty ending soon in the mail too.

I would much rather get mail then phone calls.

Last time I got a call from them, they told me the warranty was almost up. I asked them on which car since I have 2. About 2 minutes later I had the lady so PO'd at me, she called me a ****er and hung up on my. All I did was ask for what car the warranty was about to expire on, and she just thought I was messing with her. I will have to try the blood thing next time.

So after seeing this thread, I have to wonder is Subaru is selling our names to these people......

I would believe this if we had a bunch of people who DIDN'T own Subarus asking wtf we were talking about.

Nah, I've gotten them for every car I owned. I'll still occasionally get ones for the ford I haven't owned for two tears.

I think it's just about everybody! At the hotel I work at we have 63 phone lines and they all have their own number. This stupid auto loan thing calls all the lines pestering people!!

A few years ago I had some telemark place calling my phone at all hours of the night and when you would pick up the phone it was this loud beep/beep/beep noise! It would make me sooo mad. I actually smashed the house phone one night after I was awoken at 2am!

i posted it earlier in the thread....put yourself on the do not call list, which is goverment regulated. the telemarketing list suppliers have to purge all numbers on that list from their calling campaigns.

they only check it either once a month or once per quarter...so it will take time before you are actually removed.

Signed up for the "do not call list" and haven't gotten a call about warranties yet!

But now I'm getting this number calling me 317 682 1357. This number isn't as common I guess...google only brings up one hit on it :(

My previous office was on the do not call list and we got these people 2-3 times a day sometimes. They ignore the do not call list. We reported them to every bureau known to man, still nothing would stop the calls.

The best thing is they even hung up on me when I pretended to buy into their scam, so I cannot figure out what their point is.

What does "some time" equal? It's been a little over 2 weeks since I signed up...that's "some time"...

It takes up to 3 months. It should have told you that on the site when you opted out. The businesses have to update their records at the very least once a quarter.

    Opted out?

I must've missed that part. The calls are few and far between compared to before though! Still kind of annoying :(

By registering on the do not call list you are "OPTING OUT" of telemarketer's calling lists. They have to update their do not call list every 3 months. So it could take up to 3 months to do this.
