who the hell made that video? Damn. I've seen most of those real life clips before though. I thought the fake clips were just wrong...some of 'em. damn.
I think this is a repost. Nonetheless, the one at 6:03 actually scares me the most of all. Someone can fall asleep at the wheel for just a moment and cause an accident like that. No drugs, alcohol, speeding, talking on the phone or whatever... just being fatigued while driving. It can happen to anyone at any time. What really pissed me off once was earlier this summer, here in MN, I was driving home at like 2 or 3 am and I was super tired. I was at a friends house or something and there was no alcohol or anything, but I needed to rest because I was falling asleep for a second or two while driving. So, as a responsible adult driver, I pulled off the highway into some parking lot where there was a Subway and a couple other closed shops. I couldn't find an official rest stop, so I thought I would be fine taking a quick nap in a empty parking lot. I was awakened by the police trying to issue me a citation for "trespassing" because I was in a lot after closing hours. There was not one, not 2, but 4 police cars and I think 5 police officers. They asked if I was had been drinking or doing anything, but I explained I was simply tired and "did not want to cause an accident on the road because I was falling asleep". They didn't buy my story at all and would not let me leaving until I could provide a valid drivers license and insurance. At the time I was switching over from CT to MN credentials and my CT license was showing up as not valid in their system. The officers told me they could not let me continue driving and my car would be impounded and I would have to find another way home. Finally I found the yellow application for my MN license and they were able to let me go. But even as I was about to leave, they left me with no recognition or appreciation that my only intent was to be a safe driver. They were just so upset and suspicious of me parking in an empty lot at night, and they kept telling me I can't park there. Talk about unnecessary harassment for being a safe driver. /Rant ~Dan
Anyone notice a trend in that video? First responders. Police, Crash Fire Rescue, EMTs, etc. Think this video was hard to watch? These are people who see this in real life and all of its glory and call it "going to work". Move over and slow down for first responders, they're trying to prolong a life - you can spare the 10 seconds. Dont give an officer a hard time because you were speeding, they'll be the first ones there when things go poorly.
Dan- you definitely did the right thing. The problem doesn't lie with the officers, but with the people that lie to them constantly. You would not believe the stories people make up. I'm in an "LE" field in the military, and I cannot tell you how much we want to believe people. The worst is when a guy like you is doing the right thing, that "that guy last week" (you know, the one who blew the .21) makes those officers immediately suspicious of anyone in alike circumstances. Remember that time you were too quick to lend someone some money, or give them your business and they pulled one on you? You learned from it and wont be fooled again right? Its kind of the same with seasoned officers - especially when little things like your CT license pop up and make them wonder. I hope that an experience like that doesnt stop you from wanting to do the right thing the next time man.
+1 to not being able to finish it. My dad has worked in the ambulance business for over 20 years and has told me some horrific stories . One time on our way out to our cabin, a call came in that a women had been involved in a hit and run. Being so close to the scene he stopped with all four of us kids in the car still. The women had LITERALLY been completely run over by a drunk driver. For the next few years he would periodically check in with her as I would constantly inquire. She made a full recovery, thankfully. I don't know if the guy who hit her was ever caught, but I hope his conscious eats at him every every day for what he did. +1 for this going to drivers education. that was a tough video to watch
almost got taken out this weekend.. a driver in a jeep or something was half a car in my lane coming head on... when I looked up I saw him and whoooosh past my mirror.... I was on the white line on the outside of my lane... freaky
Well Put. And thanks for the other comment. It always amazes me how many dumb f***ers don't get out of the way of emergency vehicles. Drive safe.
I bailed early too. If it leaves an impression on me at this age, I wonder what it would do to a 15 year old.
yea this should be shown in drivers ed for sure, we had a similar montage we had to watch but it was to that Genesis song instead of evanescence, this video is very well done.
