    Throw out bearing

What are symptoms of that failing on an 02 wrx sedan. with a clutch that has 25k on it

difference in noise when clutch is pushed in or out in neutral; typically a squeeling noise, I think

And wtf is a "barring?" lmao! :p

i get it, I spelled the word wrong. my bad.

okay, so my car started to make some noise in 5th, it kind whines as I enter 5th gear and whines while I drive in 5th. if I move the shifter lever while in gear it makes the whine louder.

beilke, or 3rik, get driftin or ben's opinion please.

Hmmm that could be your syncro too...

EDIT: Or possibly a bearing for the final drive.

thats what i said, syncros, throw out, or possibly a problem in the diff or a piece of gear or something at the most extreme spectrum

if its just isolated to fifth gear then i don't think it would be the throw out bearing. didn't you just put this trans in?? The throw out bearing noise would most likely not be dependent upon which gear you are in.

thanks brian, also are both of these in the tranny?

I am so happy this started before I sold it to a club member, I would have felt bad.

it sucks it is only 2 weeks to fix it before the ice races.

What do I need to fix this? a tranny shop?

I have a few facts that eliminate that.

    1. drove from perham to buffalo and it started.
    2. did it all the way back from buffalo.
    3. put it in a heated garage for over 24 hours, the floor was even dry. Still made the noise.

So that eliminates that. Trust me I was hoping to hell it was ice. I will be changing the fluid tomorrow.

Either mobile 1 or uncle scotty's cocktail. What do you guys think?
