Was wondering if we are planning on doing a fun run anytime. Its getting nice and warm out and we should hit some nice roads. Matt?
You should PM matt. If you're talking within the next month or so... I personally don't like the idea of getting a number of cars on those roads this time of year, there's too much gravel/loose crap from winter on many of the attractive roads. Too easy to meet the ditch:biggrin: That spells trouble. IMHO
Bah, they should be clean enough for some fun. I know the bike crowd is already hittin' Wisconsin. Just use your head.
Using your head works well for some people, but other people just don't have it. Even if it's not a WI run, I would still be up for a scenic cruise with my Subie buds!
theres a reason they are called "fall fun runs". because they take place in the fall. scuba steve is right on when he talked about the dirt on the roads. let it rain more and clean stuff up more before you go and whip around corners. im thinking bikerboy is close to retiring from the runs from now on so i don't think you will be seeing him hold a cruise.
Yes, and it not that bad of an idea. If you are not an idiot its fine. It will take one rain fall for it to clean up. And other clubs have been out there already. You dont have to take blind corners at 70mph to have fun driving with a group of people on a nice day.
weren't you the one trying to get sideways around every corner on the last fall fun run?:roll::roll::roll:
Yes and i did not crash my car, because i know whats really dangerous and whats safe fun. I did not do it going 50 i did it on 90% corners going 20 or less.
I seen him!! lol taras was trying to slide every corner!! +22 for waiting a while there arnt any leaves yet anyway. There wouldnt be anything to look at on our "cruises"
Did i crash? No! so no problem here. And there was no fun just taking those corners fast for me because the tires i had sucked and both of my swaybar links were shot.
yeah, that too. I dont think that really changed the handling much though. But the tires and endliks did for sure. It feels unbelievable now with re070 and solid endlinks.
I know! Good thing I remembered huh!:biggrin: Almost forgot about it...hahaha. It happens man. Don't worry about it. You still have the pic?:hsugh:
lol, i am not sure if i have the pic. I think its in the fall fun run thread. Yeah, it really never happened again. I learned the lesson. It was really the first time i ever worked on a car (any car) so now after doing my own oil changes, changing plugs, turbo inlets, rotors, intercoolers and other stuff i learned a lot.
tie rods that are failing will change how the car drives and/or survives. you can just play the wrench thing off as you were coming prepared in case your car broke. tell people you just didn't have room for more junk in your trunk so you logged it in the sub frame:laugh:
As a frequent user of the roads in the St. croix Valley, i can tell you what the problem is. Squealing tires such as those accompanying sliding on paved roads pisses off those on the road. These people call the cops. Also, last summer saw an increase in vigilante activity in the area. Pickup trucks trying to block in cars and such. And the tire marks signal to cops people are using that road for that purpose. Cops will then camp there. Oh and the other reason for this? People like you thinking because they did it last time and were fine they can do it again or push the envelope. This resulted an a significant number of accidents (some involving other "innocent" cars) last summer. I've had some of my favorite roads ruined because people like you found out about them. I'm all for spirited driving. Save driving like its a track for the track.
lol, good idea. yeah, i left it there so if the subframe get loose i have the wrench right there:biggrin::laugh:
aaa, do you know me? NO! Dont put me in a group of "people like you". No need for that. And i can tell you i am not the kind of person that would do this kind of stuff in front of peoples yard. half of the people on that run e-braked the corners.
You admitted to trying to powerslide around most of the corners on the last one. If that is accurate, you're exactlky the type of driver I was thinking of. And everyone else did it? Well, they were wrong too.
Where did i "admit" to "powerslide" every corner? my car did not even want to do sideways for that matter. I had more understeer than a civic with 14" snowtires.
Yeah I agree, pointless descussion. Back on topic though. It should warm up more and after a thunder storm it should be good for a safe low speed cruise. Should be beautiful when all the trees will start to bloom.
