i know there was one event in the moorhead area. it is time for more.

who organized the event at buffalo river earlier this year?

i know there are a few of us in the F/M area that would like to rallycross but are hamstrung by the travel time and associated expenses.

i dont want to steal people away from the other LoL/snowstates events and i would even hope that some of the twin cites area competitors would make the trek north at some point.

    who is with me?

i would love to get at least one event off the ground this fall and maybe 3-4 next year.

i also would like to start a local (F/M area) rally/rallycross club that actually meets in person. feel free to PM me if you are interested.

I'm currently working Monday through Thursday in Fergus Falls. I'd maybe come up for a meet and/or rally event. Especially if you get something going within the next few months!:naughty:

Sounds like you shouldn't have any problems then!;)

Colin is also in the Moorhead area. He may be interested. I'll ask him next week when i swing up to his place to check out the 1/2 dozen projects he's working on!

i know for sure there is me, colin and arctic wolf up here that might be into it.

i would ideally like to have at least 10 drivers that would be willing to commit to all the events.

there has to be someplace within an hour of the F/M area that can host an event in addition to the buffalo river site.

i want one of those DR road graders that you can drag behind your car to help make a course.

I hope there is something at BRRP, I will defianetely be there this winter for an event. Last year looked like fun but I didn't have a car last year and for some reason they wouldn't let trucks go???

    up to 4 now! awesome.

it would be fun to get together with people and watch rally videos (do people have those anymore?). i have a few homeshot Ojibwe videos from when Mark Lovell was competing.

I don't really know where any of these places are that you're talking about, but if you get one going that's remotely near duluth in the next couple months I'd be all for it!

i have nudged the boulder and maybe i can get an event going for mid october/early november in the fargo/moorhead area.

we would need to have 15-20 drivers to break even. they had seven back in january, but it was a cold rainy/snowy day. granted it has snowed in october here too, so who knows?

here is a google satelite shot of my parents farm where i used to have events:

    http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

google maps rules for finding stuff places for stuff like this. there are a couple farmers i know in the area that i am going to talk to. they might have a place or know someone who does. an area the size of the midway at the fairgrounds in west fargo is big enough. so about 400ft by 300 ft.

some important things to remember about rallycross is that all the runs count and the lowest cumulative time is how scoring is done.

so there are no DNFs but you do get a 6 second penalty for every gate missed and 3 seconds for a cone knocked down.

we dont chalk the cones since it is on dirt.

we also may need to change the course after everyone has run it once to keep it safe if the ruts get too big.

timing lights are not the best idea if they are easily set off. timing by hand is typically used. i would not even dream of asking to use the clubs autox lights out in the dirt.
