02 WRX, timing belt and pulleys just done, not there is a noise that we have diagnosed as the back timing belt cover hitting the cam gear. all bolts are tight and secured i guess my question is has anyone else had this problem? and how they fixed it, the only thing i can think of is replacing the cover itself. could over tightening the outside timing cover cause the back one to pull forward and hit the gear? it mostly happens when its colder. any help is appreciated.

well the easy fix was pull the cover toward the pulley and rev it up so it just wore the cover down a little bit. no more noise!
