hello everyone, who do you guys use/recommend to just have some tires swapped and balanced? I've got a buddy with an evo and he's trying to find somewhere to get his new snow tires mounted and doesn't want to pay a small fortune to have it done..
Any hookups on here or anything?

If you are in Minneapolis, Northwestern tire on glenwood is legit. They are super trustworthy and have good prices.

Most places(dealers) will do it for like 70$. Also they(dealers) have the latest equipment, our tire machine costs as much as an evo. Just sayin

If you're in the west side, Samaritan Tire in Minnetonka is fantastic.

I second this if he is on that side of town. It was $100 to get snows swapped. Not sure if that falls into the definition of "small fortune". I suspect the only way to get a smokin' deal is to have someone that works in a shop do it on their own time rather than having it invoiced through the shop. Main issue if you do that is liability if something gets ruined in the process.

Jeff the Alignment Guy or Justin at Vision Speedworks. Both will be cheaper than shops and offer better service.

Where? Yeah, seriously... though obviously you have to be a Costco member. I had them pull crap tires off rims and install winters on them (mount and balance) for that price. I called around and most places were 15 per corner or more expensive so I found that to be a pretty good deal. There may be an old tire disposal fee, but I kept mine and threw them in the dumpster behind the apartment to avoid that

I needed it done quickly last weekend on a Saturday afternoon so I just went to the Firestone by my house. I'm just glad they fit me in 5 mins after I called right before closing.
I am a costco member though so will keep them in mind for when I do my other cars.

May vary by Costco, as some policies are really up to the tire center manager. I did this at the SLP location

I offered them for free here and on CL, no one claimed them. It's a single stream multi-waste dumpster, they'll get recycled one way or the other

I did buy them there a month or so prior while I was waiting on the rims. I called and asked and was quoted that price without saying where they were purchased, nor was I asked to provide any documentation of where they were purchased when I brought them in to have them mounted, so I don't think they care if they're outside tires if they aren't warranting them. Maybe I got lucky and it was YMMV, but call and ask

There is a reason why it costs money to dispose of tires, you def shouldn't just throw them away.

I burn mine, they make nice smoke to keep away Mosquitos in the warmer months.

Jokes aside, I think you missed the part where my building has single-stream waste management (why the whole TC metro hasn't gone this route is beyond me). I can throw out any solid waste materials and they will be recaptured.
