I have for several years now bought my tires from discount tire because of the warranty they sell for their tires.

If something happens to 1 of my tires where it is not repairable they replace it for free.
then they prorate the other 3 because they won't put 1 new tire on our AWD cars.

The delema I am running into is I have never needed to use the warranty. for the tires I am looking at from discount tire they would be about 700 mounted balanced warranty life time blanace and rotation. and the whole bit.

but I can get them for 467 from online. Then I need to find someone to put them on for me. If nate still had his shop I know what I would do...

so any input would be great. thanks guys and gals.

    Look at it this way:

Get them online for $467 -- then another $100 for mount/balance -- that puts you at $567.

567 - 700 = $133 saved. You could easily use that $$$ to just buy a new tire if worse comes to worse.

Warranty is all about selling you a piece of mind. Obviously the people selling the warranty make money over all otherwise they wouldn't be selling it. The only reason I'd not buy of the internet is to support locals that provide a service of value.

I've never bought tire warranties. The only time it's bit me in the ass was when I hit a nasty piece of wire in my Protege after owning it for only 3-4 months.

Since then I've had no problems. I've gone through probably 18 sets of tires since then.

All of these are valid andgood points. The one thing that i stress to all my customers is not only does it cover damage to the tire, It covers manufatures defects. If you order a tire online, and there is a defect ( heavy spot, flat spot kinked bead ect) you have to pay to get the tire dismounted, pay to ship it back only to have them tell you it was abused. I have seen this with numerous internet shoppers.
We sell the warranties as a peace of mind and to show customers that we stand behind all of our tires and can service the tire locally. If you ever have an issue we cover shipping and labor to install the tire. If you dont like the service offered it is as simple as saying no to the salesman when they ask you.
Also see about asking for any adjustment credit on the tires. if they are worn evenly ou can usually get some credit back on them.

NO tire warranty will replace your tires cause they are worn out or how owuld they make money selling peole a set of tires once and never again cause they replace for free... you go open a tire store I will be your first customer ;) ... unless there is a road hazard...

go visit Mike Wray out in Buffalo. I just had him mount my tires. Good deal and not a scratch on the rim.
