Well, my new rims are almost here and its time to order tires. I am looking at the Falken 615 in a 225/45 R17. The rims I will have are 17x7.5. Is that a good tire size or should I go 215/45 R17?

Also any other recommendations for tires? I remember the old summer tire thread and the 615 seemed to be the favorite.

    Any help/advice?

if it is summer only, go with the 225 615's. For the price, you cant beat it.

I'm very impressed with my BFG G-Force Sports, and they cost me 94 bucks a piece for 235/40/17's.

I got my PE92 only with 6k on my stock 16in. I think that would be a good trade for your new Rims...;)

Well, its kinda between those and the kook z212's right now. I can get the kooks $55 cheaper and it really seems to be a toss up on the street performance of the 2. Atleast from the searches NABISCO has turned up.

I don't track my car or really drive it hard, but i'd like to;) Mainly some some spirited corners, but its my daily driver and need some decent tires in the rain. Which is so so for the 615s. Not as bad as the 215s were, but no true improvement. I don't want to be hydro planing on 494 on my way home from work.:eek3:

Plus, the 212s are 2.5lbs lighter.

I too am in the market for tires so here's the deal i'm moving to San Diego here on friday and by the time i get there i'll need new tires. I don't need all seasons and i also only really need good dry traction because it rains so infrequently in southern california. Any suggestions for good sticky tires for try pavement with ok but not great tread life?

Your looking at pretty much what I'm looking at.

    Falken Azeni 615
    Hankook z212

or if you have deeper wallets Bridgestone 070's.

I'm running the Kook z212's for street use and also autocross. So far I love the handling and the ride. The only issue is just like any real performance tire, they wear out rather quickly. You have to remember that the have a treadwear of 200 instead of 360 like many modern tires. But I do strongly recommend them due to the great price and great reliability in all weather conditions besides snow. DO NOT RUN THEM IN THE SNOW!
