    I've been having the issue lately of first if I should buy a new car or not...And second if I should buy a forester...

    Now first, you need to know I drive an 04 WRX, with nothing drastic done to the car. I absolutely love my car, but at the same time, I am not adverse to looking at, and buying a new car.

    The main reason for wanting a new car is the added cargo room / convience...Originally I was like new WRX Hatch thats it! Keep my fun WRX and have the hatch to just throw stuff in and fold down the seats if needed, perfect...Well not quite...They are still pretty new and pretty expensive, and I don't know if I want a phat car payment. Now I've been thinking about driving a Forester. More room, and really I do like the way they look. I haven't been out to drive one, which I was planning on doing tonight, so maybe this post is a little pre-mature... I guess my biggest fear is that I'm going to miss that small car feel -- But it would be nice to be able to haul a lot more; specefically snowboards and other sporting equipment; so clearly the question is looking at the pro's and con's of each;

    So why I post: Just looking for a little insight, you're opinions and what not!

    My Forester doesn't feel any bigger than my WRX did and the extra room is AWESOME. I have two sets if wheels/tires and the car feels a bit bigger with the 18" Liquid Metal & Khumo's on it than it does with the 17" STi BBS & Falken RT16's, but honestly, the Forester doesn't "feel" any bigger or more cumbersome. The 2.5 is absolutely worth it. I say Yes- you want a Forester XT.

    Yes this. It's built on the same platform as your wrx, so it is definatly not huge :)

    If you're willing to sacrifice a little in handling and want to stay Subie, it's just logical. I'm done with the whole boy racer thing so the Forester was a perfect match with decent power without drawing all the attention along with it.

    Another option to look into is something like an '06-07 WRX wagon. The '06 WRX is lightyears better than your '04 (I've had both). Plus, you would be able to transfer nearly all of your mods from the '04 to your '06-07. That's what I did.

    My suggestion would be to test drive both and see what you like best. Both the FXT and the WRX wagon are great cars; you really can't go wrong with either.

    +1 for the wagon. I'm on my second and I love it.

    The only real difference is that I have to cut up my dead hookers to fit them in, the FXT you can probably leave them intact.

    Them passing out and you catching them before they hit the ground after you slip them a roofie isn't "throwing themselves" at you ;)

    A buddy of mine, who is also on this board (broken_01) borrowed my Forester for the weekend as his throwout bearing is shot on his VW Golf with a "sufficiently healhty" 1.8T. He made multiple comments on Tuesday when he gave the car back to me about how much he loved the way the car drove and the pull and torque of the 2.5.

    i have a question for the forester owners with kids, how is the backseat room with the front seats all the way back?

    my wife is pretty tall and needs the seat all the way back.

    foresters are starting to get down in the sub 6K price range and we like the idea if the extra height over a Legacy or OB and the 5,000 dollar foresters seem to be a bit nicer than a 5,000 dollar OB.

    The distance from the front seats to the rear seats isn't much more than the WRX, really, so if the seat is all the way back, there really isn't a whole lot more room - maybe a couple of inches. The real advantage is the shape of the rear doors is much more better for getting them rug rats out.

    WRX wagon isn't a bad idea..really torn haha. I'd love to have Rich's Forester but I just can't do private b/c I still have my car, if that wasn't the issue I'd be all over it!
