ok here is the question. My insurance company paid me around $4800 for my hail damage last month. Now i can do 1 of two things. Get PDR on the whole car which will run around $1800-$2200 and the rest of the money would go to the principle of my car loan. The other option would be go to a actual body shop and hand them the whole check and have them do what needs to be done. I went and talked with some of them and of course they dont reccomend those PDR places and they reccomend that i go with them so they can respray the front area (blend hood, bumper, and fenders). The body shop places tell me that PDR can crack some paint. i just dont know what to do. i mean i know what i SHOULD do is get the job done right but that extra money would be nice off the car loan. Thanks in advance. if you want pictures of the hail i can get them if you think that would help.

I'd personally spend the money on getting it done right if it was my car. Mainly because I love my car and I'd rather get it looking great rather than worrying about paying off the loan unless the loan is putting me in a pinch. If it isn't, then just spend it on good PDR work :) That's just my 2 cents anyway.

Well, the body shop has 3 options, pdr, panel replacement, or bondo. So for you its either a really crappy job (body filler), something you could have done (pdr), or spend the big bucks (panel replacement).

Well my big question i guess is. All the dents on the car are relativly small except for one on the hood (i would just get a new hood) so has anyone had any experiance with getting PDR done on smaller dents? Should i worry about the paint cracking? or anything like that?

Here is the reason i am asking this question. My insurance check has my name as well as teh lein holder (subaur motors finance) and the only way subaru motors finance will endorse the check is if they get an estimate, so when they get teh estimate they will cut the body shop the check for the amount of the estimate and put the rest of the money twords my car loan. Now all the body shops i have been to wont give me any estimates! most say becuase they just do the work and bill the insurance company directly and others wont do an estimate because they say they wont know if the pdr will work.

well mine was done with traditional methods... BONDO and it aint a crappy job.. FYI your car comes with bondo from factory....

its all a matter of how well they remove the dents first before SKIMMING it with bondo not FILLING it with bondo.... and a lot of the time PDR cant be done on a lot of the subaru panels...

as far as a crappy job... compare my paint now to a stock subaru and you will see who's is better.... crappy is subaru from factory....

as you can see PDR wouldnt work on this... see my other posting in pictures thread... Car may need soem bodywork thread for better pics of repairs..

There are a lot of crappy PDR guys out there, and those are the guys that will drill holes and crack paint. I have a guy I trust, so I personally would tell you to have it PRD. Either way, take the car to a good body shop and tell them to fix it right. That will most likely be PDR.

Take it into Raymond Autobody and they will take care of you
