+1 for Slacker. Only thing I listen to. Works very much like Pandora, a little cheaper I think, and I like the mix and deeper cuts that Pandora never seems to get to.
Pandora is free..... and if you run out of minutes, create another Gmail or Hotmail account (or if you are like me you already have 4 email address that you don't use). So slacker has more of a selection from albums?
i think i must be grandfathered in or something as i made a pandora account like 4 years ago when it was just starting as both me and my brother use it on our phones constantly (share my account) and also when i have parties i have it running constantly and have yet to hit a limit.
80 hours a month is free then like $35 a year (i believe) if you want more than that, or just sign in with a different email account
I think the limit is 40 hours/month... Which I usually hit in a week. Does slacker have any limits? I am wondering how it is paid for.... After you subscribe to pandora one, the ads stop which is really nice.
The "limitation" with free slacker is you can only skip 6 songs per hour. However, you can switch "stations" at any time, and it doesn't count as a skip. So if you want you can pretty much create a bunch of stations of similar genre and just switch back and forth if you hear something you don't like. And there are like one or two ads per hour; I hardly ever notice them. I have a dedicated player though, the mobile apps might be a little different. Paid subscriptions allow unlimited skips and removes the ads.
+1 for Slacker, works extremely well, ive used both and it seems that slacker has a better choice in music than pandora does
i have a slacker device and use slacker mobile - same limitations there is an upgraded subscription allowing unlimited skips, no ads, lyrics for every song, and the ability to save the current song to your device
They both offer free versions, but I pay the $4/m for unlimited skips and the other stuff. Yeah, I've had better luck finding and hearing some of the deeper cuts from albums and/or things on the fringe, I hate listening to the "hits". I've lived with both services, and decided to pay for slacker.
It use to be that you could just switch to a different email account and keep going, but recently it's been giving the warning that the free listening time has been used up on this computer rather than the account. So, I'm gonna have to give Slacker a try. Last.fm has no limits, but they tend to be kinda buggy sometimes (maybe it's just the crappy IE6 I'm stuck with at work).
