Hey, I'm thinking about picking up a Tomei titanium catback but I want to hear in person how loud or quiet it is. Does anyone in the metro area have one I can listen to in person before I make my decision? It would help me greatly. Thanks.
It's going to be about as loud as my exhaust, also depends on the downpipe. I have a 4" catless downpipe to a 3" exhaust (Turbo XS) and it's pretty loud.
The tomei is the same loudness as the invidia n1 street serious because it's resonated. If you have a cat less downpipe it will also make it louder.
I wanted to see what the difference was with and without the silencer. I really like the exhaust but I just don't know if I can deal with the loudness on a dd. Has anyone dynoed with and without a silencer? How much power loss?
You can just about guarantee without a resonator, you will have drone. Especially at highway speeds. Changing downpipes will also make a difference in the volume levels and highway drone levels. If you are wanting to listen to exhausts, make sure you take all of this into account.
This! I also noticed that when i added my new turbo inlet(metal), that it increased the noises also. Every change pretty much increases the turbo noise and exhaust noise/drone. Wagons and hatches are worse than sedans too! The silencers that i've seen are a joke.
