The same reasons that had it removed in the first place. A good bit of stigma associated with it... killing spectators is bad, m'kay? Besides, the current WRC cars are just as fast, if not faster, due to the technological improvements (aero, awd systems, tires, engines, etc.) that have happened since then. They're just not quite as exciting to watch, because all the tech has removed most of the need for the flick and other such slidewaysness. The fact that the cars are faster than the human body can react. Literally, drivers were incapable of adjusting from one corner to the next, causing serious tunnel vision. Combine that with poorly maintained public roads, and you have a lot of deaths.
