Hammond: "It's absolutely the most glorious machine in the world" Random Renault dude: " Wait till you get into second"
Yeah, it's something else to not be able to go too slowly around a corner. I can't imagine being required to go way past my limit just to stay on the track.
"It has a piston engine, and four wheels. That is where the similarities with a road car end." -not that video, but truf. F1 is the epitome of the racing world. Nothing comes close to the technology and outlay of serious cash like F1 does. That's why I like it. NASCAR, kiss my ass.
Indeed. When I first saw this video, I really didn't know the engine tolerances were so tight, that it wouldn't turn over unless warmed up :eek3:
One of the SCC writers drove one a couple years back. He said that it is such a fine line that all the normal inputs that you are used to are gone. Left foot braking does not exist. The difference between grip and non-grip is so tight that unless you've been racing formula cars for a while, you cannot even fathom the micron line that is there. To me, that is badd ass. They are sooooooo honed that they only operate properly within a very narrow window.
I liked how they were able to control the throttle from the laptop, and make the engine play a tune. The ultimate instrument for a garage band ? Stuart.
