interesting, i wanted to see em all on teh track at once though. http://www.dpccars.com/car-movies/04-11-06pageEvo6AlfaRomeoWRXMCoupe.htm listen to that car purrr.....
Well im just confused at the end he pointed at both the 22b and evo and said thats better... but that 22b is so beautiful when sideways.
i dont get it, ive driven the m coupe's before..not that impressive, maybe the german version's are hotter.
^ ya the 22b driver must have let off or miss shifted. he was ahead until like 2nd gear then lost it.
According to this, http://www.cartalk.com/content/testdrives/Reviews/bmw-m-coupe-1999.html the euro Mcoupe has more hp than the Us spec. Didnt they say 320hp in the clip anyway... and it weighs ~3100lbs compared to the 22B with ~280 @ 2800 lbs awd. Anyway, awesome clip. I'd love to super- or turbo-charge an M roadster/coupe one day... much easier to get than the 22b.
don't forget the 22B was substantially underrated... Add with AWD and the lighter weight, it shouldn't even be a debate with equal drivers. 22B > M Coupe
^underrated bc gentleman's agreement right? Fair enough. I still think straight line would be close with a slight edge to the bimmer - less drivetrain loss, no lag and rwd is definitely launchable. Overall yes, Id take a 22b
is there some type of limitation on HP in japan? cause most of the super cars seem to be around 280 hp. i have read reports from people that said the 22b put down more HP then subaru stated. they are guessing that subaru said i had 280 to keep it legal when it was actaully alittle hotter then that. Russ: my research tells me that its a IHI VF22. although some people are thinking it might be the VF23. isnt the VF22 a dual ball bearing turbo?
Suposely the first batches of 22B's had the VF22....then the other half had the VF23....from what I've read and heard
Ever notice on gt4 how all the Japanese supercars max out at 276hp . For serious tho, from my understanding the agreement was to not release cars exceeding 276hp. iirc the ealry/mid 90's gt-r (I dont remember which, nor if thats the right car) broke that agreement... I think it stated 276hp but was tested and found to be a bit more than that. Im pretty sure there was also a gentlemen's agreement regarding top speed for motorcycles too. Sorry, my Japanese history is a bit rusty ... Damnit Martin, now I have to go research this and make sure Im not talking out of my azz!
yes there was a gentlmen's agreement, even though everyone knew many of the cars actually had more hp, and i believe it lasted up until a few years ago.
^ ya the alfa got pwned. as for the 22b, isnt it kinda wierd they switched turbos mid way through production? being there are only acouple hundred in the world, does this mean that some are faster then others? i thought the 22b was one of the agreement breakers. i read reviews of people claiming it had more like 350 hp stock. (not dyno tested just reviews). i didnt know that the agreement had ended.
