Was reading the car wash thread and was thinking that it might be a good idea to have a map of the touchless car washes in the Twin Cities area. I have a Holiday pass at least for the winter and that's where I mainly go. If nothing else, this is for me, as I am always wondering where the nearest touchless Holiday wash is wherever I happen to be. This is open to the public and open to collaboration. If you know of a good touchless automatic or a coin-op sprayer car wash, feel free to add it to this map. I've listed all the touchless Holidays and the Anoka coin-op that I know to get it started. https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=209262906836903827909.0004d4fe81cc55425cf9f
I use Google maps on my Android tablet for navigation. I have this saved on My Maps and can call it up rather than trying to going to a website. Plus after winter I'll likely drop off the monthly program and it will be good to have others besides Holiday on there too. Like I said, if nothing else this is for me. Contribute and use if you want. If others add the ones they know, even better. If not, no biggie.
FYI - you can switch to "pay as you go" with the Holiday Pass in the summer. They only charge you when you get a wash. It ends up still saving you $1 - $2 per wash depending on the gas station. I do this in the summer because I can't always get around to hand washing the car.
Yeah you have to be logged in to your Google account. You should see an edit button on the top of the list of bookmarked places. Thanks for adding. I just wish I could add from the Maps Android app. I passed one in Champlin that I'll have to add later.
Yeah, I was logged in. I just didn't see the "add a placemark" icon. I added the DIY carwash on Hwy 10 with a pink placemark. How did you add all the Holiday's? Did you have to do it manually?
Hmm, I don't seem to see your placemark? Yeah, I added them manually. I didn't want all the Holidays anyway, just the touchless. I had it down to a system, so it didn't really take long.
https://plus.google.com/110457666056210230565/about?gl=US&hl=en-US I've been using the car wash at the holiday in cottage grove on 80th and hadely for years. Its 100% touch less and has never damaged my cars.
I prefer to wash and dry the car myself. So I contributed by adding a couple of coin operated locations in St. Paul that I use regularly. I try to only go on Tuesday nights so that way there's not much traffic and it costs me about $2.00-2.50 for a nice exterior and undercar wash. However, I prepare for it by bringing my own wash pail w/ warm water and soap, hand mitt, dry blade, and microfiber drying towel. It takes about 30 minutes for for a nice shiny car and I get a little exercise out of it too.
I used to do this too, but the six or seven mile drive, getting wet from splash back, and having to go there late in the evening to avoid inconveniencing others, and it lost its allure for me years ago.
Oh, I think I was the one that changed it to green. Trying to keep the green to easily spot the coin-ops. I'm thinking, maybe to ofspunk7's comment, that the Holidays that use the car wash pass should be denoted differently somehow. I only added the touchless ones that do, but others might want to add other franchise ones that are touchless but don't use the pass system.
Done deal then. We'll use purple for ANY automatic touchless that is NOT a Holiday on the monthly pass system. Updated the map.
Anyone know of a touch less near Eyota? Going to be doing some maintenance in a relatives heated garage this weekend and would like to blast the car before hand.
There is a coin one in burnsville. The water is very warm and the place is heated. It's off of burnsville parkway.
