http://www.pebhmong.com/forum/index.php/topic,147100.0.html not sure how valid this is. but a buddy of mine just sent me the link. sorry if it is a repost.
no, this is the step-brother of that project. i think the idea behind this post is that subaru is moving forward without toyota. but like i said above who knows how vaild that statement is.
I think your are wrong sir.:ugh: subaru made some tweeks and revisions. same basic platform. All based off their joint venture, toyota has not stepped out, Subaru just decided to step UP!
They've been saying from the beginning that it would be a shared platform development, that would likely result in 2 cars. same suspension, drivetrain, and basic layout. but different looks, and possibly different engine options too. I've liked pretty much every rendering I've seen. I think subaru needs to make a 2-door coupe again, and the assistance from Toyota is the perfect way to make it happen. My one hope, is that they keep the EJ bellhousing. I'm not terribly concerned with what motors will be in it from the factory, as long as it can be directly swapped with other EJs (like the diesel :yumyum I will be very happy.
The body kinda looks like a Porsche and a Subie had sex and this was the child. Looks great. Wonder what kind of price tag it will have if it reaches production
http://www.7tune.com/confirmed-bigger-badder-subaru-216a/ They say "confirmed," but do not list a source. I'm a bit skeptical.
That fact that they say both turbocharged and awd in the article bugs me. It's two things this car was never going to have. Rumors are rumors for a reason. There aren't any real pictures of the car nor any real manifacturer released info. Remember, 7Tune or any company is mainly concerned about advertising dollars. Hype is good, even if it isn't real. Really, all we can do is wait and see.

The scoop could suggest a turbocharged engine. Just sayin.... I just hope they give it enough wheel-well to rock a 295+ rear tire. And a floor pan to change it to AWD.
The story says 260hp turbo 2.0 for the Subaru version. And a 200hp n/a 2.0 for the Toyota. 200 hp n/a 2.0 boxer sounds interesting, as that's significantly more than the normal 2.5 n/a. They could just be pulling numbers out of their ass too.
That would be so sick if they came out with a rear wheel drive, turbo subaru version. i'd like to see subaru as a major contender in the drift scene.
The videos of the car on the Nordschleife are inconclusive. There is no exhaust noise beyond a restrictive psssssshhhhhhhhh sound. The videos show a rear diff, but that is all.
i am pretty sure there was a 2.0 non turbo jdm motor that was putting out close to 200 hp in the past. i am sure it would be possible with direct injection and a high enough CR.
I think if this car is designed for a rwd application they are going to design the drivetrain layout so that it moves the engine further back relative to the axles. (when compared to their awd platforms) This is going to make awd conversions alot more difficult I would think.
That's the 2011 WRX front end. I can see they didn't upgrade the brakes either. Not 4pots or Brembo. They better make it something special for what it's gonna cost. View attachment 23560
1st Gear: Subaru Gives Subieyota More Power Than Toyobaru According to Autocar, Subaru tells them the BRZ will have the lowest centre of gravity of any production car when it goes on sale next summer. The BRZ's rear-wheel-drive configuration has meant that Subaru's itty-bitty 2.0-liter Boxer engine can be mounted even lower in the chassis than would normally be permissible in the manufacturer's conventional four-wheel-drive layout. But the big news is that, despite being co-developed with Toyota, power outputs will differ. The Subaru-spec ECU will liberate the BRZ's power to "less than 300 bhp," compared with the FT-86's 200 bhp figure. We'll find out for shore when we see both the Subieyota and Toyobaru unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show later this year. Click here for Story
Werd! From what i had read on Nasioc, the weight was listed at just over 2,500 lbs. Low weight+rear wheel=doridorimobile?
When I read your post this is the first thing that came to mind. http://www.h1v8.com/page/page/1562068.htm
It's official. 200lbs heavier than they claimed and "no room for a turbo." Very disappointed. http://www.autoweek.com/article/20111129/TOKYO/111129910
This line makes no sense. Did they cut the car in half and figure out where the center of gravity is?
Basically there's a diagram of the car from the front showing the center of gravity, if the rear was raised slightly the center would be higher in the rear.
