    Hey all,

I ordered an ATEQ QuickSet TPMS Reset Tool today, thinking that snows may be on the car soon, right? The tool needs to have the codes from the new wheels to complete the process though. Tire Rack didn't provide the codes...

Does anyone know how, or have the tool, to recover the TPMS codes? I'd rather not have the dealer do it, as I'm sure it's not cheap. I'd be happy to trade a 12er of your choice for someone to grab the codes for me.

If anyone has a better solution (other than leaving the TMPS light on), please let me know.

    Thanks!

Best bet may be to connect the tool and get the current TPMS sensor codes and have them stored. Go to a dealer (Discount Tire will do this also) have them program your new winters, then you will be able to pull those codes out with your reset tool. Sucks spending money on a reset tool, but you are only having to pay once.

Ya, it sucks, but it's better than paying twice every year. Kind of a bummer Tire Rack didn't provide the codes, especially since they sell the ATEQ tool. Do you think Discount Tire is pretty cheap for programming the winters? I live pretty close to samaritan tire, so maybe I'll try them.

Are the wheels programmed to the car, or car to the wheels? I got a barely used snow set that supposedly have sensors that were on a Pontiac Vibe. The light was on this week while running that set to check for rub issues. If the wheels can be programmed to the car, cool, otherwise the light isn't that much of an annoyance to bother programming the car each time I change sets.

The codes from the TPMS are programmed to the car. Samaritan tire said they flash them for $25 and give me the codes. At least then I'll have them for future use with the ATEQ tool I bought. For reference, Morries wanted $50.

When I was considering 2 sets of wheels for our Infiniti, they wanted $220 to flash the codes! The Audi uses the hub speed in place of a TPMS sensor...best thing evar!

I did, ya. They told me they'll provide the codes upon request at the time of order. I didn't think about it while ordering, so here I am.

Not a big deal to throw Samaritan $25, I guess. At least I won't have to worry about it in the future.

So what I did was take the same tool you have, store the codes for my summer tires.

I went to Discount Tire had them mount my winters, program the car, then stored those codes for my winter tires.

I didnt have any of the codes either

That's what I did. I have the Ateq tool as well. I went a long time with my TPMS light on. But it was NTB who mounted my tires. They had a broken programming tool, and replaced it several weeks later. They reflashed (free)the codes with the summers tires(OEM rubber on the new wheels). It was complicated, but finally got it done.
