I finally gave in to popular demand and picked up Pioneer Mobile Electronics to compliment the existing car audio lines that we carry. We are looking to really fill out our headunit line-up with the addition of Pioneer.

To kick this product line off properly, we are offering the following item at a great price: Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD for just $489 SHIPPED.

The AVIC-F900BT is last years model IIRC, the new ones are 920BT and 910BT. I can check and see if we can still get the 900BT if you are serious about wanting one.

Yes, it is the outgoing model. I didn't see any new features that would interest me in the new model.

I am interested depending on price point.

Sent an email to my guy @ Pioneer to see if they have any left over stock on those. As I am a new Pioneer dealer, I'm not entirely sure what the differences were between the 900 and the 910/920. Care to enlighten me?

The only real difference I see in the specs from 900 to 910 is that the 900 had a security code option. Maybe I'm missing something.

    AVIC-F90BT
    http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/P.../GPS-Navigation-Systems/ci.AVIC-F90BT.Support

All four of the models do all the usual things you'd expect from a NAV System - NAV, GPS, DVD, iPod, MP3, (and other formats), USB (Max 2 Gig) Bluetooth, voice control, wash your dishes etc... But the big difference is the preout voltage. The F900BT is only 2.2 Volts. In my humble opinion that is not a enough signal source power to provide to the amps a clean/strong enough signal source for a well sounding car audio system, if you plan on running amps that is. If you're not running amps then this is not a concern. The F90BT has 4.0 Volts and that is enough signal source power to provide a clean/strong enough signal source to the amps. I'm researching the X920BT and the X910BT but Pioneer is hiding preout volts info somewhere in the owner's manual and not on the online product page. And I'll look in the owner's manual find that later, don't have anymore time to look.

The differences between the X920BT and the X910BT I found so far is as follows.

    - The X920BT has a 6.1" wide screen and the X910BT has a 5.8" wide screen.
    - The X920BT has a new user interface both soft (Screen Interface) and hard (Physical Buttons)
    - The X920BT has Bluetooth audio streaming. NOICE!
    - The X920BT has Pandora Link compatibility. NOICE!!!
    - The X920BT, X910BT, and the F900BT do NOT come with the required iPod Audio/Video Direct Cable and the F90BT does. This is important as the cable costs a good chunk of change.

I have the F90BT and love it. But the features of the X920BT are NOICE! I'm curious and want to know what the X920BT's preout voltage is. I wonder if it is 4.0 volts? Hmm... Anyone want to buy a used F90BT?

The big difference is price. Most dealers are offering the 900 at less than half of retail as it is the outgoing model.

Since, like you said, there aren't any deal-breaking new features available in the 910 model, I can't justify paying $2-300+ more for it.

Jeremy, the motor is the stereo :), I'm more interested in the gps, dvd playback, and bluetooth.

I found the specs in the X910BT owner's manual that the perout voltage is 2.2 Volts. And everything I'm finding online tells me that the X920BT is 2.2 Volts as well. That's disappointing.

Sheen, of course we all have our own wants/needs in life but doesn't your mobile phone already have GPS/NAV? If so, I bet like my mobile phone, your mobile phone's Maps are dynamic (it gets it's map updates on regular fast intervals for free) and a car stereo NAV system's Maps are static (it gets it's map updates from CD/SD card ever four years at a very high cost to you). Thus proving the mobile phone wins over the car stereo NAV system. Also, the mobile phone's NAV voice is more natural compared to the car stereo NAV voice. And the mobile phone NAV voice announces highway/street names and the car stereo NAV voice doesn't. The unnatural voice and unannounced highway/street names are because the data required to be able to do that is too large and exceeds the capacity of the car stereo hard drive and it has no constant data connection like a mobile phone does. The mobile phone gets it's natural voice and it's announced highway/street names dynamically from it's constant data connection. Therefore, I'm finding I use my mobile phone NAV system more than the F90BT's NAV system and then recently wondering if a car stereo system with everything I mentioned above sans GPS/NAV would be better. It would save on cost if I dropped the GPS/NAV requirement for the car stereo. Hmm...

If you end up getting an AVIC system I can pass on the knowledge I have on hacking it. Splash screen changes, change the voice to Yoda, KITT (Knight Rider), or Ozzy Osbourn, layout color and placement, changes, parking brake soft and hard bypass, and etc... I found AVIC411.com as an excellent online resource.

Check out the splash screen I pieced together and hacked on to my F90BT.

Yes, my phone has gps... and it sucks. We also have a garmin that typically stays in the lgt that I'm sure is better than this unit. That said, for my use, I never had a problem with the maps on my past pioneer units (avic-d3 and z1). At the end of the day, I prefer having everything in one place. Also the less detachable objects in the car, the better I feel... I don't have much storage room for mounts, cords, chargers, headsets, etc...

Anyway, traffic Jamz, please pm me some prices if you have these units available. Looking to purchase and install this week while the car is apart.

I agree with the "everything in one place" and "less detachable objects" philosophy; it's cleaner, less hassel, etc... I've heard great things about the D3 and Z1. Hit me up if you want to hack into your new AVIC.

I have the X910BT right now and its painfully slow. If your going to spend the money for a unit like this, go get a AVIC-D3 or wait for the 920 and hope that its faster. The 910 drives me nuts.

I can not get any of the 910BT's. I see a lot of responses of people looking for a higher output Nav unit. Why not do the AVH-P4200DVD w/ the add-on nav unit AVIC-U220. I don't have pricing yet on the add-on nav, but assuming it is reasonable, it seems like the perfect solution to high voltage and navigation all in one.

Another alternative is a good preamp/line driver. We also sell Zapco products who manufactures some excellent preamps. Just a thought.
