OK, that makes sense. I was trying to figure out where tranning fluid would go in a car, but this involves gender reversal. Makes sense now, carry on with your conversation. BTW, Justin, I find your knowledge of this tranning fluid to be deeply disturbing now that I know what it is.
What GL- rating is required in those trannys? On DSM trannys, there are a bunch of brass parts and if your run a GL-5 fluid in there it will eat up the syncros and stuff. I used Amsoil synthetic for a bit in my 1st DSM, and it was CRAP. If your tranny can use GL-4 rated fluid (brass friendly basically) I'd recommend Redline sythetics (DSMers mix Shockproof and MTL), Pennzoil/GM Syncromesh (same stuff, you can get Pen. at Autozone), BG Syncroshift 1 or 2, and Royal Purple. All of these fluids have friction modifiers that help mesh the syncros increasing their life.
Actually, I've been running AMSOIL in my WRX tranny and diff for a few months now. Right when it got put in, it INSTANTLY felt smoother. It's a whole other ball game with WRXs.
Well, before you just spout out that amsoil is crap, you realize that amsoil does make synchro friendly gear lube. Russ
I am sharing my own personal OPINION. I didn't say that was fact. The Amsoil 75w-90 synthetic gear lube I was using was GL-5 rated, and it sucked. And I figure what may work for my car may not work for yours.
