Hey, I have an 02 wrx. The trans isn't in the best shape, but it will be fine for the time being. I was wondering what year transmissions and what I should do for the best situation for keeping the 2.0l and finding a better replacement. Any info would be great.

Just to be a DD, not to have any issues with it. I would prefer to just swap out transmissions when the time comes. If there is a better cheaper way to swap out a gear set then I might be interested in hearing any advice on that as well.

I'll be doing a swap in my 02 DD to 4.11's this weekend, I had a good JDM trans so found a 4.11 rear from a buddyshould be fun.....

What kind of trans was the JDM one? Or what transmission codes should I be looking for?

It was from a legacy, had to swap rear diff as well. Worth it to me, cars quicker of the line, anything over 70 is alittle high on the rpm's but I don't do a lot of highway driving. The trans code is on drives side strut tower, I found a cheat sheet online.

If you just want a stock replacement or a little stronger I think Ron at RS motors might have a stock 04 WRX gearset. At least he did about a month ago when I was looking at rebuilding my transmission.

Do you have a link to this cheat sheet? All I would want is probably a newer basic swap from one chassis to mine. No real extra work involved other than R&R.
