Umm. My transmission plug keeps comming unplugged! Anyone know why this could be and how do I stop it! Is there some sort of seal that has gone bad or do I need a new plug or could this problem be far worse???? :eek4: Anyone?
If the threads are stripped on the pan, head to an auto store and get a +1 or +2 oversized plug. If it really is the same as the oil pan, try it out. Else get a new pan. Doubt a crush washer would help much, but its worth a shot.
you have alot to learn about subies young grasshopper...if its a 5mt it doesnt have a "pan" and you are screwed! but if its an auto then yes you can get a new pan...did you take it somewhere to get the fluids changed and they stripped it? (whats new?)
are you sure you dont mean dipstick? because it would be hard for the plug to pop out and not fall on the ground...also it would be extremely hard for fluid to travel UP to the turbo
get a new dipstick and see if that fixes the issue.. sounds like the dipstick cause as awdimprezal said.. if it was the drain plug it would be NEW trans for you, as there is virtually NO way the oil would make it up to your turbo.... and if that one POPPED out you wouldnt have any fluid or transmission left....
Sorry, assumed it was an auto. And no, I've never even been under my car. Oil change coming up in 500 miles!
^^ either way the drain plug is underneath the transmission... so oil would have a hard time getting over the turbo... not impossible but close... and they both have a dipstick in the same location whether auto or stick...
Don't know if I have a good grasp on this thread, In your original post it sounds like you are describing an electrical plug. Then you say it is the tranny dip stick has poped out? If so I would check the level and verify it is full or close. Then I would look to see if the vent pipe under the intercooler is pluged.
This was what I was kinda thinking. It wasn't oil on my turbo it was tranny fluid. So I'll see if this fixes the problem! Thanks for the input.
Just for clarification, it IS an auto. Unless somebody did a swap in the last month or so.... Get a hold of one of us here in town, I'm sure somebody would be willing to take a look.
