He has a manual, so it doesn't need a flush in the same sense that an automatic would.

I think it takes 3.7 quarts of 75w90 GL5 rated gear oil, according to the owner's manual. But, there's something called "uncle scotty's cocktail" that consists of 1.7 quarts penzoil hypoy c, 1 quart penzoil sychromesh and 1 quart redline lightweight shockproof. You can read a lot more about it on nasioc. Supposedly it helps a lot on WRX 5spds.

You can get hypoy c at pepboys, snycromesh at autozone, and i don't know where to get the redline lightweight shockproof locally.

yeah, 3.8 quarts for 5spd, .8 for rear diff.

redline 75w-90ns I went with recently for the trans.

Well...Let me explain wat happened..As I have made it clear that I believed that my clutch is basically going out...my brother in law's brother checked out my car and drove it..He said it's defintaly not the clutch he said I need clutch adjusment..Here is the scary part, he checked the dip stick under the intercooler which I believe is the tranny fluid and it's super low..actully after a couple of dips there was not anything on the stick anymore...So he said i need fuild, which I believe is wat "Trany Flush" is, correct me if I am wrong...SO I need to get tranny flush and clutch adjusted and well see...Wat made me think it was the clutch was the slipping durning the winter, which is COMPLETELY gone now...So wat do u guys think...ALL HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRICATED...Thanks alot guys...

My clutch did the same thing, it slipped really bad on cold days, but on warmer days it was ok. But when I changed it, there was definate wear on the clutch plate. I don't know exactly why the temp affects it, but I know it can. I think Fong said his old RS did the same thing.

As far as the fluid, changing is probably a good idea, but it won't do anything to fix your slipping problem. Tranny fluid usually stays cleaner than engine oil, so if it's hot and thin, it can be hard to see on the dip stick. Check in the morning after it's been sitting over night.

Your car has a hydraulic clutch, I'm not sure how/if those can be adjusted. Mine is cable, and if it's adjusted wrong it can cause it to slip, but if it's slipping because of adjustment, I doubt temp would affect it.

Come down to firestone tonight, of if you want to stop by my place tomorrow we can take a look at it.

TRANNY FLUSH is more like FONG playing POKER.... ha ha ha

ok seriously... a manual does not get flushed.. it is a drop and drain...

an automatic gearbox / transmission is flushed due to filter and passages containing buildup etc etc... to do the auto I would also run a cleaner as even Kennedy has told us the ones they run teh cleaners through dont need the filter changed as it looks brand new every one they went to change...

drop and drain is very simple.. if you have jack stand and some wrenches you can do it... tranny flush... I can take care of them at my shop with cleaners too...

Yeah, like what Joel said, you can't adjust the clutch like you can with a cable setup.

I'd say go with replacing the gear oil as a first step. It's as easy as changing your motor oil.
