Greetings, I'm new to the Twin Cities and to my WRX that I bought in February. I'm still getting to know the car but I'm loving it so far. I haven't made any engine mods. I've added a few Subaru Genuine Parts to the interior like the armrest extension, block heater, cargo nets, cargo tray. I REALLY need to upgrade the soundsystem soon...then I'll get into heavier mods when the cash is there. What is a good place for regular maintenance in the Golden Valley area (or anywhere really)? I do basic maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations, but I'd like to know where to go for more involved work. A friend of mine with a BMW M3 recommended JB Eurotech, but it's clearly geared towards European cars and is a bit of a trek from my location. I ordered a set of Michelin Xi-3s and some wheels so I'm pumped about throwing those on here soon. Here's a pic from earlier this year...
Great looking car! Welcome! I zip around in the New Brighton area but I work pretty close to Golden Valley, I will wave if I see you!
The NF Performance crew is going to be most poeples recommendation, also there's Ron at RS Motors as well. Morrie's Minnetonka Subaru has a 20% discount on parts and a 10% discount on labor if you want to go the dealership route and that's probably the closest dealer to you. JB Eurotech is a Euro shop, not a Subaru shop. Great guys to go to if you have Euro, however. Other than that, don't be scared to ask for a hand doing things yourself. There's more than enough people here who are mechanically inclined and generous with their time. Hell, when I first got my LGT, I didn't know the first thing about Subarus (although I was beginning to be more mechanically inclined at that point), now I'm to the point where I can do a wheel bearing in a parking lot (fun times lol), or a full suspension swap in 4 hours solo, thanks to learning from others.
Thanks for the recommendations. I've heard of NF Performance somewhere. I'll definitely check them out along with RS Motors.
Inbeforethenoobfromthesouthcrashesinthegreatwhitenorth. Don't let the awsomeness of all wheel drive get the best of you...it goes better, but stopping and turning are the same. Overconfidence is your worst enemy. Smart move getting snows...world of difference even with AWD. Welcome and be careful.
