Tuesday Meet - Quest to find a new Calhoun

Just to make it easier here is a thread for the new meets.

- long lake (off of i694 and i35w) July 9th 2013 Group Response was Positive
- hidden falls/Crosby lake (off of hwy 5 and hwy 62) Holy Bugs Batman
- mill ruins/north loop/bohemian flats (north side of downtown Minneapolis) Group Response was Positive
- como park (off of Lexington and Como)
- northeast park (off of 35w and the quarry shopping center) Pulled from list due to waterpark madness
- Theodore Wirth (north Minneapolis/golden valley)
- mounds park (off of I94 east of downtown St. Paul)
- minnehaha falls/ lake nokomis (off of hwy 55 and hwy 62)

You da man! I was too lazy to research the actual address and create a thread, so THANK YOU for creating this thread.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I will be in attendance after I land at 6:30pm and drive up from the airport!

 

So question #1.

Point A is an upper lot with more parking, a pavillion, tables and playground
Point B is a beach with the benefits of a beach, parking is hit or miss

Which do we want to shoot for

 

The B lot looks decent. Lets meet there.

 

The 'b' lot has never been super full any of the times I have been to long lake. It's a large enough lot that it really shouldn't be an issue.

Either way there are numerous lots and plenty of options for activities at long lake plus the added benefit of a big beach for the 'view'.

See you all there. Looking forward to changing things up, I think it will be good to hit several options before making a call to oficcially choose a potential new spot.

Bumping the thread - hoping for sun tomorrow.

 

I have never seen the B lot full, but maybe it is in the evening? Hopefully it is nice out, maybe we'll bring the bikes.

 

I have a daycare tour at 6:30, so I'll be there around 7ish.

woohoo, daycare meeting is at 5:30, not 6:30. I'll be at Long Lake on time.

Derek, bring your board. I'm bringing a portable flat rail.

 

Had a good time tonight. This location seemed to go over well with all that were there. Derp, Tony and I stayed a bit longer to watch the due with the giant kite (and the lifeguards). They had a fire going when we left.

So I will pose the question... What do people want to try next week?

I think Long Lake was a great success! I had to leave early due to the baby, but it was already a pretty good turn out by the time I left. I would be open to having it here every week.

Ya tonight was good, the only fail was the life guards slip n' slide.

And stuck missed out on his legacy meet he asked about cuz he went by Calhoun
